Not the open weight ones
Re:Scaling Git at OpenAI on Tuesday November 03, 2026 @01:13AM (#50348666)
About 7x longer than Linus took to develop Git.
And what are the debt levels of these other tech companies?
Re:The AI cost of JavaScript frameworks on Sunday November 01, 2026 @07:45AM (#50325114)
String manipulation for HTML is a great way to introduce security vulnerabilities.

WASM is a non-starter for most web applications due to initial binary download.

Advising to use some experimental feature in one browser does not seem like a great idea.

JavaScript frameworks are not perfect but they exist for good reasons. People that brush them away usually lack the experience and understanding on the topic.

So why did the US not ban Meta after Cambridge Analytica scandal or Alphabet after the Google Adx and DV360 preferential treatment scandal?

Also most IoT in the US runs Chinese software and I'm not seeing ban for those.

Fines are not bans. American software companies are welcome to respect the law any time now. For a US reference, see the recent Meta fines in New Mexico.
Europe doesn't ban American on-board software so why would they ban Chinese ones?
Yes, because the "smarter tasks" that can't be automated and that become the new job sources don't exist.
It's more that Teams is already included in a bundle of actually useful and working software in the form of Microsoft Office.

Your government for one with state and federal contracts.
Re:Mistral Large 4 on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @05:13PM (#50187709)
That's rich coming from a country who's top AI contender just announced 80B in yearly losses. Looks a lot like a subsidised duopoly to me.
They had the same peak as all the tech stock during CoVid. But they are far away from their all time high.
Oracle is down -50% in the last 12 months so Larry might be feeling the squeeze already. And that's after firing 20k people in the last year or so.
Re:DeepSeek just open-sourced its inference engine on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @11:25AM (#50167827)
Your link doesn't speak of cancellations only about a certain GW worth of data centres being built but that are not operational.
Re:DeepSeek just open-sourced its inference engine on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @09:32AM (#50166140)
The US has never cancelled as many data center projects as now.
Re:DeepSeek just open-sourced its inference engine on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @09:02AM (#50165729)
Only if CPM can be high enough to counter balance the inference costs.

Current CPM is between $30 and $60 which is x20 to x30 more expensive than alternatives.

Now we have to wait and see if performance is also at least 30x of previous ad targeting.

Re:Deno Is Joining Cloudflare on Friday October 09, 2026 @12:10PM (#50022614)
The security model has always been a half-baked afterthought. The initial versions were riddled with vulnerabilities .
Re:Mistral Large 4 on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @09:56AM (#49992976)
I'm sure that they stopped. ;)
Re:Erdosproblems.com Succumbs to the AI Onslaught on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @08:55AM (#49992096)
The result is that humanity will progressively become worse at math because no new student will have had to take the steps to figure things out themselves. How long it is possible for society to rely purely on AI math results remains to be decided.
But nobody will pay for that
Re:I Quit OpenAI Because Its Culture Is Broken on Sunday October 04, 2026 @12:27PM (#49955326)
Seems like kt already hacked government websites
Re:Our Project Suncatcher prototype satellite is in orbit on Friday October 02, 2026 @06:25PM (#49939369)
$1500 / kg seems incredibly low considering that launching a simple 1U cube sat costs roughly $200,000.
Re:Meta's Muse is fantastic for web scraping on Friday October 02, 2026 @04:24AM (#49931160)
Ah right, there are stealth plugins to remediate these types of hints I believe.
Re:Meta's Muse is fantastic for web scraping on Friday October 02, 2026 @02:07AM (#49930301)
Interesting, do you know what exactly changes on said root DOM node in case the remote debugging feature is enabled?
What if Oracle, Anthropic and OpenAI can't pay their infrastructure bill?
It is when you promise a deadline yes. Also full self driving is not even rated to drive anywhere.
Re:Why Is Sam Altman a Free Man? on Wednesday September 30, 2026 @07:25AM (#49907338)
Learning isn't but using that knowledge is.
Seems like Oracle didn't have anything in writing. Looks more like a risk of doing business and over promising.
Re:US diesel hits record $6 a gallon on Iran supply shock on Friday September 11, 2026 @05:10AM (#49655479)
That's basically all countries
Re:Blizzard Workers Win Historic Union Contract on Thursday September 10, 2026 @11:40AM (#49645636)
Baldur's Gate 3 is much better on this front.
