I wonder what payment methods they accept.

On the site: no information.

FAQ: "You can order your Elastic Metal RV1 server directly on the order page"

click order page:

-> "create an account to view the page"

"I have a question, a problem, what can I do?

Like all Scaleway services, you can contact us officially via our support center, or informally via the Scaleway Community Slack."

click support center:

-> "create an account to view the page"

Scaleway Community Slack:

-> "your browser is not sanctioned by our strikt kompliance kommitat"

You know what, never mind.

Wikipedia only pretends to be non-profit and Wikipedia didn't buy anything for $4 billion.
Re:How Quora died on Saturday February 03, 2024 @12:45PM (#39242762)
And here we go again!

"...things got worse in a post-Gamergate internet, with alt-right, Trump-loving trolls invading online forums"

So if you defend Trump, who leads every single poll, you are automatically labeled a "troll."

"...with ugly ideologies running rampant."

Points to some place called "it's ok to be white" although finding overtly anti-white pages and profiles is at least 10 times easier since that is never punished.

Meanwhile, again: Trump leads every single poll while whoever pulls the strings on the Biden puppet does everything possible and imaginable to wreck the country.

These loons really underestimate people. They really think people will hear the thunder and feel the rain on their faces whenever they step out the door and still believe the "sunny and mild" weather reports. They really expect people to believe that referees' whistles are causing football athletes to drop dead on the pitch (google that, I am not joking).

I left Quora years ago when I saw the brutal bias that just made it useless for any actual information. Sure, they were vandalized, but they let themselves be vandalized while they were too busy propagating lies. Quora made itself useless.

I suppose generic communication channels have a lot of noise for Big Brother monitors. When someone exchanges Retriever links though, monitors will know that some "secret" is being shared and can focus on potential targets more easily, with a noise filter.
The people who call out the "inhumane regime" of Iran are usually exactly the same ones who openly hate America (where women can do whatever the hell they want) and display sky high levels of admiration for Barack Obama, who gave a metric ton of American taxpayer money to Iran.

I am posting this again because my first post has been shadow banned.

Allende was destroying Chile. The Chilean military had the good sense of putting an end to it.
Because being a black man is what really matters in a presidential election. Got it.

Re:Strong typing, a hill I'm willing to die on on Wednesday October 04, 2023 @11:33AM (#37766663)
Is that a promise? Are you people really going to die? How soon? Any chance you die by the end of this week?
I don't know what you people are talking about. I'm just glad I always browse with Javascript turned off. If you didn't see the writing on the wall and permanently turn Javascript off around 2006, you have no right to complain about anything.

Meanwhile, ironic irony is ironic: "Hey, idiots! Learn to use Unicode already! Usability and stuff! Oh, btw, here is some extremely annoying Javascript pollution on your screen because we are all still children, right? Har har! Pranks are so kewl!!!1!"

Re:As I get older, I just don't care about new technology on Saturday August 26, 2023 @03:54PM (#37276256)
I don't know about the rest of the world, but I keep losing interest in technology because it's rarely meant to be useful anymore. More and more technology seeks these goals:

1. control

2. vanity

3. ego

4. control

5. megalomania

6. compulsive urge to radically change everything you ever thought you knew about ____________

7. control

I haven't been the target audience of technology for a long time.

Re:Microsoft's backwards compatibility is insane on Friday August 18, 2023 @07:24PM (#37183454)
So many people dismiss Tcl as near garbage, but Tcl/Tk applications written more than 20 years ago still run as intended including GUI, and they run on Linux, Windows and Mac. You just install a new --or old, whatever-- version of Tcl/Tk and the scripts will run, agnostically. I have a few I made myself 15 to 20 years ago and at least with those I never have to worry about distro upgrades, repositories or libc version.
Re:MilkyTracker 1.04 on Thursday August 10, 2023 @04:10PM (#37081106)
Good news: you don't need music theory and I don't even recommend it. Bad news: it takes a lot of work to make one song. A lot.

I suggest you download Caustic for Windows (free, also runs on Linux with Wine) or Android ($10 I think): https://singlecellsoftware.com/

And just fiddle with it. You will get the hang of it. But you will see that building up an entire song takes a lot of time and effort.

Caustic is not good enough for serious business. You should aim for a DAW with plugins. But Caustic can be a very good start for someone who knows nothing. Some DAWs are easier than others. Tracktion Waveform has a very capable free version. Mulab also has a free version but with limitations.

The story people are commenting here is about a "tracker" type of DAW. I find those horribly difficult to use. I suggest you avoid them.

Re:Chicago95 – Windows 95 Theme for Linux on Sunday July 30, 2023 @02:42PM (#36934531)
This is really nice. I may try it soon.

I tested Windows 11 recently and I was really shocked. Apparently, it has two basic themes: my-eyeballs-hurt white and what-is-the-point-of-living black.

Not aliens, I can assure you. Any genuinely intelligent and advanced civilization would go out of their way NOT to be detected by anyone.
Re:Red Programming Language on Monday July 17, 2023 @12:40PM (#36760423)
That is probably what I hate the most about today's technology.

"compiled a decade ago"

Listen here, kid. Two and a half decades ago I had Windows 95 and I could browse the Web, send and receive email (or fax!), play music, play videos (or movies), play games, use instant messaging, program in multiple languages, use databases, run a mail or Web server on my desktop, read and edit documents in formats such as doc, rtf, xls, ppt, pdf, xml, desktop publishing, view and edit images including high re photos, including porn of course, make international phone calls, and a few other things.

And every single Tcl/Tk script (cli or gui) I wrote two decades ago still run 100% unchanged.

If you refrain from using anything just because it was "compiled a decade ago" then you are a fool. Sadly, you are not alone. Far from it.

The issue is so simple. The companies claim that it would impose heavy costs on them. Well. So it either costs the companies or it costs the consumer. But the consumer is exercising their free choice while the companies are ignoring said choice and forcing them to pay for something they don't want. That's textbook extortion.

Easy solution: impose crippling fines or maybe a little prison sentence here and there for extortion. Why not? That's what it is. Do it and watch how fast the mobsters, I mean, the companies will change their tune.

Re:After 30 Years, Linux Finally Hits 3% Market Share on Tuesday July 11, 2023 @10:01AM (#36681110)
People aren't forced, they choose it. They are clueless about technology and don't trust anything that may look like a dark horse. They want reassurance. It's not just the "enterprise" or corporate world. Home users have that mentality. Mac computers cost an arm and a leg and people still pay for it because the advertising machine has hammered it into the heads that "it just works." Most people only trust big brands. The bigger the better.
Re:After 30 Years, Linux Finally Hits 3% Market Share on Tuesday July 11, 2023 @09:50AM (#36680950)
What a joke. Web standards move under our feet -- and browsers break -- all the time. I personally work for a company that forces me to work online and only pretends to support Linux. They say I have to use the latest version of Chrome (so I can't choose a browser that won't spy on me), I use it and it still breaks occasionally. I know they count on everybody using Windows and don't want to bother with Linux. So much for cross-platform. That pipe dream was proven false years ago.
Re:After 30 Years, Linux Finally Hits 3% Market Share on Tuesday July 11, 2023 @09:44AM (#36680873)
I have run high quality music production software on Linux. It was Windows software, that runs thanks to Wine. It works and it's even better than native applications because native applications expire when a distro version is discontinued and the application is not packaged for the current version. Windows applications installed in Wine never expire. Wine is Linux, Linux does the job.

And high quality image editing is possible, though it's probably done differently from whatever you're used to. There are plenty of graphic artists making their work on Linux and bragging about it.

So "doesn't even remotely come close" is either a lie or a display of your ignorance.

Arch has excellent documentation. It definitely stands out.
Привет, товарищ!
Great stuff. Who needs beautiful art when you can instead adorn you wall with an endless string of shameless propaganda and false narratives?
RobotCaleb, kindly explain: 1. Why are you admonishing me and not saying a word to the poster who said "check out the following books if you want to move past your misconceptions"? Why doesn't that come across as patronizing to you? 2. Why is art subjective but "the following books" are not? 3. Where did you get the idea that art is supposed to be inclusive? Kindergarten teachers routinely invited my mother to go there just to show her, "Look at the amazing drawings your son has been making AGAIN!" Do you think my kindergarten drawings should be blown up and plastered on publicly visible walls? Seriously, I want to know.
No, they don't bring any social commentary, they only bring sycophancy. As soon as you criticize it you are moderated and silenced into oblivion. Your "social commentary" can only go in the way they demand that it go.
"I have hundreds of photos I've taken myself." Good argument if true.

"I studied art in university, am an artist myself" Garbage argument. Universities sell debt and false authority badges, not knowledge. And of course it never crossed your mind that I might be an artist myself. No, it didn't. It very obviously didn't.

I refuse to waste my time on anyone who defends Duchamp and Warhol (notice the spelling) or anyone who says "dialectical dialogue." Your poor education shows very clearly.
The Web analogy is good to remind us that advertising has become some kind of war on the population. I remember when ads were relegated to the sides and corners of any Web page. Now they are inserted in between the paragraphs of what you're reading, some of them blink and there are also pop-ups. Some have an "x" to let you close them, but they come back just seconds later. More and more sites now will show you nothing at all if you disable ads or Javascript or even cookies. People use ad blockers because they don't want to see the ads, so it's reasonable to assume that they are not going to buy anything or if they do it's not abusive advertising that will determine their shopping decisions. But that doesn't seem to matter at all. You just have to look at the damn ad. Just look at the damn ad. Look at the ad or we will send an assassin over to your house! VIEW THE AD, DAMN IT! It's just insane.
They were dangerous too. Huge and bright moving ads on the side of high speed highways. I don't know if any accident was ever caused by them, but they were really begging for it.
