Re:I Asked a Psychopath How to Stop Caring About Rejection on Friday February 17, 2017 @03:08PM (#13671280)
The dread of social rejection is likely a learnt response. A person should be able to learn to be unaffected by social rejection.

The article makes it more complex than it should be.

The WSJ is burning their reputation with such sensational articles.

They are the place to find weird climate-change contrarian articles.

Snapchat is based on Ubuntu servers. http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2016/04/ubuntu-infographic

Coincidence?

You can get the snapcraft.yaml con fig of the app and recreate the snap with your modifications and adaptations.

This is not what I expect to read on HN. Take your anti-Ubuntu zealotry elsewhere.
Re:Cambridge Analytica: The Data That Turned the World Upside Down on Wednesday February 01, 2017 @12:47PM (#13542985)
There were several articles on Cambridge Analytics and Trump but none made it to the HN front page, including the English translation of the original German article.
Do you Firefox? Because Firefox has Google as the default search engine which got them to receive hundreds of millions of dollars per year. Without that money, firefox would have been a lousy browser mainly by volunteers. Ubuntu tried to do something with amazon but probably did not earn enough money and was scrapped for more than a year.
Re:AMD Ryzen Hype on Saturday January 14, 2017 @06:59AM (#13398026)
The article title gives out a negative vibe. AMD has a marketing team and the team so far is doing good work. #savedyouaclick.
Re:Edward Snowden Is a Fucking Idiot on Saturday January 14, 2017 @06:42AM (#13397989)
Not much in the article. I ended up reading other articles on the site like 10 ways to lead a hhappy life and how to make your own chipotle.
They expand from having third-world customers to having first-world customers.
If you try to getva child to talk, it takes about two years of arduous effort. To get a primate to talk, you would need to raise as your child, spending a few years in the process.

That parrot that talked, was raised in such a way.

Someone around the GOP could merely have hired a hacker from Eastern Europe or Russia specifically to do the hacking.

I find it troubling that this avenue was not explored.

Those programs were created with different toolkits. Such is life in the freedom of free software.
Re:Ubuntu 16.04 Unity 8 current state [video] on Thursday December 29, 2016 @11:50AM (#13278326)
There are no significant differences between versions of Unity. The functionality remains the same.

In a world of 450+ active Linux distros, we got just two new ones here!
Re:Ubuntu 16.04 Unity 8 current state [video] on Thursday December 29, 2016 @11:46AM (#13278301)
Unity 7 works on X11 and Unity 8 is the new version to work on the new desktop server. I think it is on purpose to be as similar as possible.
