LightskinKanye

You can't get that high of res with a satellite,

And I would assume they would protect those assets against other submersible devices

How is the US government allowing this?

I'd be willing to wager we have some under water assets that we don't necessarily want to be discovered.

"An engine this big generates a LOT of drag at Mach 2.2"

If this is the case write a Medium article about how BoomSuperonic is able to make turbofans go to Mach 2.2

I'll leave it as an exercise to the reader to identify other contributing factors...
Are you my professor?
I don't know how I feel about posting outline.com articles that are from the NYTimes.com without their consent...

Seems pretty unethical since I don't have a subscription and would like to support them somehow.

I heard Chariot got bought by Ford

Hey guys, this guy has Secret Clearance!

I've consulted for a prominent SV VC looking at small scale hydro-kinetic energy before.

Two major hurdles:

1. Section 404 of the EPA's Clean Water Act (aimed at normal dams and protecting fisheries) still applies to smaller scale hydro-kinetic turbines.

2. We determined the potential market wasn't sufficient after looking at detailed satellite imagery of the US and Canada river networks. It was surprisingly small compared to the potential of solar and wind.

To really solve our energy problem we need to start getting serious about nuclear funding. Including scholarships for master's and PhDs.

It is a great solution if you need off-grid power though.

What do you have against DynamoDB?

Easy for you to say when you've had a company of yours acquired for millions.

What about those that are struggling to find a place to sleep, not give our lives up to commuting, and pay our student debts?

What about the Rights Approach to ethics? Don't I have a right to be able to eat?

What I am saying is that we as a society (but mostly the leadership of Twitter) should act to make their service not a Common ground to be exploited.

The guy above understands the Tragedy of The Commons. The Tragedy is that there will always be bad actors. The solution is to design systems that will reduce the impact of these bad actors.

In this case, make a system that strictly enforces the verification so multiple accounts can't be created.

The Tragedy of the Commons states that I am free to exploit this flaw. But we as a society should probably do something about it

Amen. People say there is a shortage of skilled labor. I just came out of a prestigious public CA university and can't find a job that pays a living wage. If coming out of a CS program with internships and I still don't have the skills maybe these companies should invest in training me as an entry level worker.
Did they move companies? If so, which companies did they move to? I am guessing this could already be found publicly?

Yes it acts as a sort of firewall between the two systems. But at that cost you may as well just have 2 systems. One off grid and one grid-tied given you have the space.

But when the smartest undergrads are looking at potential career choices they see engineering and CS as means to a good life.

Without the support and money from companies who care, many will choose the highest paying option

They have billions but aren't sponsoring scholarships for graduate physics degrees like Boeing or any "corporate" company does.

If they want to see their 10xs breakthroughs (which they sure talk a lot about) they should be throwing money at condensed matter physics research and just support in general for physics. Its easy to get a 10x in software but energy is a whole different game.

That way the smartest people won't have to decide between taking a high paying engineering/programming job or going into physics.

It all comes down to probabilities and the amount of people in the field is really the best approach towards making a breakthrough.

You do realize in the event of a grid failure your solar panels don't work? You can either be grid tied or off grid.
