Re:Lombok Is Still Relevant in the Age of Java Records on Monday October 19, 2026 @07:51AM (#50151248)
Can you elaborate?

To be clear, I know how to look up where the class is used, and i know how to look up where constructors (note, plural) for the class is being used, but I have not found a reliable way to find where a specific constructor is being used if the class has multiple

Re:Lombok Is Still Relevant in the Age of Java Records on Monday October 19, 2026 @02:23AM (#50149004)
Lombok fucking sucks

@requiredargs sucks, if you rearrange the order of two fields with the same type on a class you invisibly break the code. If you have multiple constructors (requiredargs, allargs) it makes tracing how they’re used using the built in tools of your IDE impossible

@builder fucking sucks, if there’s non-nullable fields and you don’t set them, at best you get a runtime exception. Builder pattern should take non-null args explicitly in the builder() method so when you add a new required field it doesn’t invisibly break code 8 modules away

Only good thing is indeed the log annotation, and to some degree @getter @setter, big whoop

They do, during training

Are you trolling

Thank you!

It really irked me when I read it the first time and it drives me nuts that no one else seems to catch this, you’re the first one in some 100 HN threads to point it out

Some of the cpi data is synthetic, based on best guess, the ratio of synthetic data has gone up sharply https://www.apolloacademy.com/the-quality-of-the-cpi-data-co...

Citation needed? I can't sit on a bus without spotting some young person using ChatGPT

I’m not arguing against your basic point as I completely agree arriving on time is my own responsibility, but when I do what you suggest, i forget my house keys lol

You don’t have a great mental model of how most people think

Breaking down muscle is good, not letting the muscle recover is bad

Same kind of thing

A week ago, I was looking for the name of a semi obscure late 90ies computer game. Google could not help me given the description i gave

Described it to ChatGPT, and we had a back and forth where I explained why the games it suggested me weren’t right, it eventually found the correct game (Nocturne) and was able to explain to me that half of the things I remembered from the game were just plain wrong, and that’s why Google couldn’t find it

ChatGPT helping me with my hallucinations, go figure

It’s all good, I didn’t take your comment as an indication of how it actually functions in Canada. Just reacting to the implications of your examples

I would consider two of these absolutely monstrous reasons to assist someone in killing themselves. A broken society opting into killing its citizens because it can’t be arsed with fixing itself is next level evil

Only for prolific twitter users and only a random mishmash of 2+ year old tweets. Usually it just asks you to sign up

It's a substack blog, there's no trickery going on. It just means she used https://jessicawildfire.substack.com/ until now
record players are perfect
It's a mistranslation of 'vil' => will, when 'vil' actually means "would like to"
*wants to, not will
This is the reason why I wear glasses now, it's not really fun to have your vision go blurry at random while biking

Oh man, I completely forgot about that game.

Absolutely loved it as a teen!

where did you get the impression that i spend time hating people? I'm saying that you shouldn't normalise being a shitty person "because you have to be shitty to be great". There's tons of amazing artists that are generally known as being all around great people

(I'm not even referring to fat mike here, I have no idea if he's a good person or not)

nah, this is just lame apologia that normalises being a shitty person
I enjoyed this 5 star review

"Fun to play, keeps you on your toes! The only problem is that every once in a while, you have to completely uninstall restart your computer and then reinstall, that's the only way you can keep playing."

> And these robo-taxis will be worse than public transport

If you soil a waymo taxi, they can ban you from ever booking another one, the same cannot be said for public transport

While I consider this somewhat dystopian, I do think it's pretty clear that they will be much cleaner than public transport for that reason

> The essence if her claim is they were doing that for their stock options?

Wasn't that extremely obvious at the time?

Exactly as difficult as applying the taxes after sale...
> I know it's more complicated than this

it really really really isn't

> a single failure in a startup doesn’t make someone an idiot

Depends on the failure
