Re:Improving ventilation will help curb SARS-CoV-2 on Monday May 31, 2021 @03:51AM (#27341396)
Or you know, winter. As has been the case for at least the past few hundred thousand years.
Now remember kids.

There's only two political parties, so vote for the one that's going to win. It feels good to be on the winning team after all.

If you'd like to be a politician, daddy wasn't part of the political elite. You're gonna have to become a communist, or corrupt billionaire before people want to vote for you.

Lying, propaganda and fear mongering is allowed provided you only do it for votes. And to curry favours for donations.

You must harshly judge everyone else on their past -- especially when they were s teen-ager saying stupid stuff on Twitter. Don't worry as a politician, you're immune.

No matter what your opponent says, even if it's a fantastic idea. Shoot it down for the greater good.

Black people and minorities are a tool for pandering to or vilifying depending on the colour of your tie. They can't think for themselves after all.

War is a fantastic way to save the economy by confusing everyone.

And that kids is how you become president of USA/Canada/France or prime minister of UK/Australia/New Zealand.

Please make them game instructions.

And that's why they won their fraud dispute...

There will always be a generic and broad policy first. Then it will - and did - get resolved on further investigation.

That mute and unfollow button though.

I do about 10 a day.

Please don't start wearing black turtle necks.

Re:I still like C and strongly dislike C++ on Thursday May 27, 2021 @03:26AM (#27300340)
I prefer Rust simply because it's safer and C++ has become monolithic. Also gotta love an excellent package manager.

"wage slavery"

Part of liberalism is accepting your own flaws and failures. Go and get another job.

Re:An utterly crushing day for Big Oil on Thursday May 27, 2021 @03:19AM (#27300301)
Lol good luck, shareholders/executives don't care because tomorrow everyone's going to use their cars, have their goods shipped by tankers and Tweet on their plastic covered phones.

Everyone in society decides whether or not a business/industry succeeds or fails. Not a Twitter mob.

"Oh sweety, I've just gone through your history and read everyone of your Reddit comment and I can't even right now.

Science doesn't care about your feelings"

Re:Being Poor (2005) on Saturday May 22, 2021 @03:26AM (#27244346)
I went from extreme poverty to extreme wealth by knowing exactly how much things cost.
Institutions should be allowed to fail, loose money and go bankrupt because of their bad decisions. Like everyone else in society.

Google Glass flop.

Calling it now.

Re:Is Recycling Worth It Anymore? on Sunday May 09, 2021 @04:21AM (#27094250)
Remember that 50-100 years ago humanity recycled almost everything because it had to. Yet we pretend it's some new idea.
Everything is over inflated at the moment so it's a dammed if you do dammed if you don't kind of situation. However, a global ETF is going to return the highest yield for minimised risk, and even if the world markets crash. You're still holding something of value.
Either,

The markets will crash to reflect their true monetary value.

Or, we will see the ultimate effects of hyperinflation outside of the equity markets. Your potatoes and carrots will start costing $50 a piece.

AMC is my personal favourite to follow.

CEO literally said in their 10-K that if they're not at 90% capacity within 4 months, and borrow a lot of money. Then they can't maintain minimal liquidity requirements and must declare bankruptcy.

Everyone will loose their money.

Yet FOMO!

Re:LiveLeak shuts down after 15 years online on Thursday May 06, 2021 @01:16AM (#27059412)
I mean, that's 99.6% of everyone that gets it.

In which case everything everyone here is saying has been blown out of proportion.

Re:Flu has disappeared worldwide during the Covid pandemic on Thursday April 29, 2021 @08:17PM (#26988468)
The economic deviation caused by governments over reacting is your biggest pressure. Unless you shut down all travel, bars, restaurants, schools, universities and dating.

Then all of this will come back in the future and kick you in the teeth. Either we're going to have to accept this as a way of life, which is more detrimental. Or we're pushing off the inevitable.

Black death fatality rate 50%

COVID fatality rate 0.2%

Not quite the same impacts, so no they're nothing alike.

Re:SpaceX raises $1.16B in equity financing on Thursday April 15, 2021 @03:08AM (#26817033)
Christ, they deserve legitimate criticism. Just because you like them doesn't make them immune or OP wrong.

They have a marked history of missing deadlines and budget over runs. Least we forget they promised cheap international travel via rocket, without any safety mechanisms, that takes 40 minutes to get around the world, to start being operational next year.

Re:Covid-19 vanishing in Israel as vaccinations kick-in on Friday April 02, 2021 @04:02PM (#26675351)
Well it's not 100% and will wear off in 6-12 months.

You're arguing with people that already have a 99.9999% survival rate. Vaccine ain't gonna do shit for them...and as you've stated. Their lack of illness drastically reduces their infectiousness.

I had it based of an anti-bodies test. 0 symptoms absolutely fine...like 99% of everyone.
Re:Reddit: A clarification on actioning and employee names on Wednesday March 24, 2021 @03:17AM (#26564391)
WTF did I just read?
Lol what.

I haven't been able to buy government bonds/gilts with an coupon rate hire than inflation for years.

At least my equities return when everyone deflates the value of money.

I see the BBC is conducting honest reviews on its own staff and its place in society.
that just means it might evolve slightly slower, not that it won't ever happen. it 100% will evolve and 100% will evade the vaccine. we've understood about evolution for a very long time, but everyone's in denial atm.

even wearing masks did fuck all because it just evolved anyway. it ain't gonna matter when you aren't wearing them.

The article is literally named weight loss isn't a calorie problem. The calorie is a unit of measure for energy.

It literally says loosing weight has nothing to do with energy.

Re:Oxford-AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine approved for use in UK on Wednesday December 30, 2020 @07:52AM (#25581234)
You need to look up what the word "collapse" means.

What you actually meant was "got a bit busier".

Re:What’s the best non-smart TV sold today? on Saturday December 26, 2020 @02:59PM (#25545984)
That's why standards like ETSI 303 645 exist and legislation is being created. Although most of it is around "just buy a new one when this is unsupported".
it's barley transmitted in shops, restaurants and bars.

if schools are open, it's pointless doing anything else. if schools are closed kids will still go out and play.

basically you're screwed if you do and screwed if you don't. and less and less people will listen as time goes on while the virus mutates and selects for contagious variants.
