It’s not genocide. Your use of the term is correct. There is a war.
Re:Europe bets once again on RISC-V for supercomputing on Monday March 10, 2025 @12:00AM (#43316890)
That’s a pretty insane take that ignores decades of actual history.
Re:Musk asks X staff to justify their stock options on Friday August 23, 2024 @06:37PM (#41333684)
Because of politics?

Yeah I’m sure that’s the only thing they do with their time. Definitely not work or do anything else productive for society.

Has anybody attempted to show the actual math here in a serious manner?
“Exodus”, what a great name for this project. Very cool.
“Inflation is partly to blame for those big payouts. The cost of fixing or replacing damaged homes and cars has jumped sharply in recent years as a result of rising labor and material prices.”

Jeez, it’s almost like the intentionally refuse to understand how inflation fundamentally works…

This is what inflation does, has done, and will continue to do into the future as long as we print money the way we do.

Design your own phone much?
It matters because you shouldn’t gaslight and lie to people. Articulate and intelligent people see through this, and it won’t help your cause.

We should all do our best to be honest with what we know, what we think we know, and what we don’t. Especially on the things that are important to us.

I generally support choice in work place. However, many advocates of WFH disappear for days; seem to produce less results. Younger teammates don’t have the best work philosophies, and won’t necessarily develop them in isolation.

Some of this may be fixed with process changes and better tooling; but that does not exist today for the company I work for.

I signed a contract that said I would come to the office when I took my offer, and honestly, if WFH people are serious; that should be more vocal about allowing folks to leave the state boundaries too. Silicon Valley folks who live in 3+ mil houses seem to be really happy with WFH…

As a personal anecdote, many of our local restaurants near my office have closed down, people I cared about lost jobs and livelihoods from these somewhat self-centered changes. I want more people to understand that these arguments have perverse secondary effects on society as well.

Disagree with your sentiment. Big tech employee for 12 years. There is substantial support for RTO, but those voices aren’t as loud, don’t advocate their positions as vocally as the rest.
I think what the article meant to say. “Farmland practices keep Europeans alive”

Very cool idea, would only be interested if self-hosted options were available though.

250mil bail? You mean moms house? No problem.
Aren’t all arguments in favor of Denmark and Sweden invalidated immediately because of the lack of isolation testing?

I find it hard to believe that Swedens progress isn’t measured by advancements made from capitalistic contributions. For example Apple iPhones.

I tend to find most folks inherently throw out these arguments out through their own biases and refuse, at every level, to acknowledge the hard working capitalistic people who got us this far.

Sweden is much better off because of the contributions coming from capitalists.

Re:Marc Andreessen compares California to Rome circa 250 A.D on Thursday October 06, 2022 @09:15AM (#33107804)
Crime, taxes, cost of living. Groupthink. Homelessness. Drugs. Fecal matter. Lack of accountability in public officials.

This has been my experience living in California for the last 10.5 years.

In 2020 California literally tried to rollback Civil Rights era legislation with Prop 16 because it has a preference for particular races and genders that isn’t mine.

I think this argument presupposes that denying resourcing for the 10 will definitely improve the success of the 5.

Personal side note; I’ve tended to find that exceptional people are more productive with the resources given. So I find it hard to believe the inverse would also be true.

I think thats the _only_ way to interpret that phrasing.
The rate of stories increased since Tesla moved its headquarters out of California.

Just so you know. Larry Sanger, a founder of Wikipedia. Wrote exactly about those articles, and it left leaning biases.

It’s a good read.

Why is this getting downvoted?

I bought a 2018 Ford Focus RS (comes with a manual transmission). Love it. I have Apple CarPlay, but no other gimmicks.

I didn’t know how to drive a stick before I purchased this car; but had a strong desire to vote with my wallet stemming from the same emotions. I wanted less “technology” in my car.

Agreed. Not sure why folks aren’t immediately coming to this conclusion.
