Re:I tried to move my notes out of Emacs. I failed. Again on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @08:54AM (#50086965)
Highly recommend just setting up "Doom Emacs" as a quick way of configuring emacs w/ evil keybindings plus other niceties. It strikes a really good balance between sane defaults, and easy expansion.
Re:GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @07:07PM (#49902060)
People have been trained to "press or say" a number while going through an AI voice menu on phones for over a decade. So a chatbot looks great by comparison in that context.

Re:GPT-6 Sol and Luna on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @09:34AM (#49815924)
There's a huge difference between AI companies exploiting a grey area like training on public corpora and violating a private contract that they explicitly entered into with another party. The latter is very explicitly illegal and would never survive trial in Delaware Chancery court. And all of that is before we get into Federal contracts where training on TS/SCI data could lead to criminal charges.

There's a huge market in the US for providing AI services while respecting client privacy. It makes sense for at least one major provider to offer this.

Re:NPR cancels 4 podcasts amid major layoffs on Friday March 24, 2023 @08:51PM (#35297836)
There's a huge divide between the senior reporters and journalists doing the radio programming and the younger folk who run their website and handle publishing. While I still have a positive view on NPR as a whole, the online side deserves a lot less respect.
