Yeah with KDE it's all or nothing, either every menu item has an icon or you can turn off all of them.

This goes against the original argument which is that icons should only be used for universal idioms that can be recognized by the icon _only_. Otherwise it's just noise

I love KDE but they could take some notes from this!

You don't _have_ to but without one it uses a shared rate limit pool

I really like this. I'll definitely continue using it.

There is just one thing that bugs me - during every cold start my playlists take like half a minute to load, and that's even with my personal API key. Surely these could be cached?

IF we're going that route, maybe tiled windows shouldn't cast a shadow either?
I don't think half the globe is that invested in what Trump is doing, much less against it.

Re:AI is removing the middle class of software engineering on Wednesday August 12, 2026 @01:14PM (#49275686)
If there is any positive to be had from this, it's that we finally started documenting the codebases for AI as we should have always done it for other teammates.
Re:I don't recommend Tailwind CSS on Sunday August 02, 2026 @08:41AM (#49144022)
> It breaks the separation between structure and design

I have a problem with this argument because CSS _itself_ breaks that separation.

`border: 1px solid red;` is design, but `display: flex;` is structure.

In my opinion, it makes sense for display properties to live in the HTML because they are by their very nature very tighly coupled to the markup.

Though I appreciate that making this distinction creates a separate problem of your team having to exercise good judgement (and consistency) in which CSS belongs where.

Ah yes - my bad. I fixated on the part where you have to uncover the mines instead of avoiding them.

It's definitely a worldwide phenomenon at this point. Memes know no borders

MSN MESSENGER HAD THIS!

I used to play this with a friend. You would take turns, that is, the mines would reveal themselves in real time, and your turn ended if you missed a mine.

Then the game would call you a slut when it ended, because my friend's MSN was in Swedish and that is the word for "end"

Kernel level anticheat doesn't make sense on Linux because the kernel is open. There's simply no incentive to do that

But at the end of the day, the browser is likely where your most sensitive data is.

I guess the silver lining is that the Windows ABI is extremely stable
I agree. We don't need to reinvent the wheel.

Don't sleep on the command palette (`/`). It's a really useful tool when even if you don't know _where_ things are, you still know what they are called.
Re:Don't create .gitkeep files, use .gitignore instead on Friday February 20, 2026 @10:18PM (#47097147)
If you need to do this, I think .gitkeep communicates intent better. You don't need to document it or risk it being removed as thought to be a left over.

It wasn't exactly disappointing. I loved to read The Old New Thing back in the day, Raymond's blog was full of stuff like this.
