This is like SBF and co, right?
Is it clickbait? It’s slightly provocative but the content seems to live up to it.

She’s deconstructing absolutist nonsense into something less absolutist. It’s almost anti-clickbait.

Yes, that’s clearly been their entire business MO from day one.
Do you have the foggiest idea what “cruise control” systems are capable of these days?
Re:BBC Modi Documentary Removal on Saturday January 28, 2023 @11:26AM (#34558895)
You’re conflating two things. The BBC is indeed taking it down for copyright reasons. The Indian government is censoring it for political reasons. This post was about the former.

"Necro" or "zombie" threads aren't actually bad

I prefer it over the old days, where it was "don't join our mailing list".
Re:Developers, your manager is likely clueless on Thursday September 30, 2021 @09:52AM (#28706308)
Aye. The folks I've worked with who most insisted that managers were useless were the ones who most badly needed supervision.
Let me introduce you to this thing called rhetoric....
Re:Intermediate Algebra on Monday September 06, 2021 @06:52PM (#28439002)
A problem is that lots of lower-education math instructors don't understand these concepts deeply themselves. I think it could be okay if these things were clearly framed as "true for the problems we're looking at, but not universal", but they were typically presented as universal by teachers who themselves don't know any better, and that really caught me up too.
Google Video was decent. But it lacked the social element.
Re:What do you do with a billion grams of surplus weed? on Saturday August 07, 2021 @10:22AM (#28098779)
You're misreading. They're not being ordered to destroy crops in order to support the medical marijuana price. They're destroying crops because there was a bubble and they've created way too much supply.

Cannabis stocks were a fad for a while, and I know lots of people who invested in them blindly. The number of legal cannabis retailers is exploding. I live in a mid sized town and there are three more opening this month, and the ones I see always have customers.

The system's hardly failing, some speculators just played themselves.

The best practice is not to build a business that's built on evading the security of the people you're depending on.

Just get into crime if you want to do that.

It sounds like your description of those feminists came from his videos. You should try watching them so you have a more accurate take. Anita isn't nearly as much of a radical as she's painted.
This sounds like a much better sport.
When everybody jumps in this thread to tear him apart, please disclose your crypto holdings while you're at it.

So many formerly-good people have been corrupted by crypto greed.

Indeed.

Windows Subsystem for Linus sure has been a game changer!

Re:Amazon S3 quietly deprecates BitTorrent support on Wednesday June 16, 2021 @12:17AM (#27524851)
I evaluated it for possible use ~5 years ago, and found it too unreliable. Their trackers would shut down after some period of inactivity and didn't often seem to come back online for later peers. AWS neglected this feature.
Re:Untapped potential in Rust's type system on Monday June 14, 2021 @04:41PM (#27508033)
Take a look at the code: https://github.com/Metaswitch/assert-type-eq-rs/blob/master/...

I'd rather not write that myself.

Even if his policies were identical, a corrupt leader can't be allowed to remain and solidify his corruption even further. He's already been there far too long and done far too much institutional damage.
Re:Researchhub: GitHub for Science on Tuesday May 25, 2021 @12:20AM (#27272564)
To help bring this nascent community together and incentivize contribution to the platform, a newly created ERC20 token, ResearchCoin (RSC), has been created. Users receive RSC for uploading new content to the platform, as well as for summarizing and discussion research. Rewards for contributions are proportionate to how valuable the community perceives the actions to be - as measured by upvotes.

This is a terrible idea and you should feel bad.

You are losing trust with every word.
It's not clear to me that Google still gives a fuck about solving search/organizing the world's information and make it useful. The mess they've incentivized the web to become is very profitable for them.

Your choice to be ignorant about the contact tracing frameworks is your own, but please stop spreading misinformation: https://www.google.com/covid19/exposurenotifications/#exposu...

There were many locations who built their own apps that did not follow this privacy model, or used it incorrectly, but for most cases "your location data being put into some database" is not accurate.
