o brother, i had the same problem when i first wanted to use Gemini-Cli. after hours spent, a friend of mine and i did a direct comparison, he with claude-cli and i with gemini-cli. task was to create a small arduino cpp app. gemini was not able to produce even compilable code... waste of time and energy.

for me, a google model can be as good as they want, in the end, they are still google, probably one of the most bureaucracy riddled big companys out there. evrything i see from then gives me feeling that evrything has been decided by a committee that do care more about politics and not customer needs. the shit one has to go trough to get the gemini-cli running is a good example of that.

A Visual Novel. Its from a Software-Engineering standpoint interesting, since the requirements for this specific Use-Case are immense.

I'm using Mistral for a local VN Proofreader and its by far the best Local 14B Model for this specific use case.

i wanted to extract the text of a book on holydays. so i had no flatbed scanner arround.I downloaded the adobe scaner app. it was a desaster. then i just gave the raw images to claude and it extracted the content absolut perfect... it didnt even used to many tokens.

its funny but also concering how many apps seems to become completly pointless very fast...

a little anecdote: i used gemini cli for a large implementation of a feature for a cpp api. gemini did a huge amount of work i otherwise had to write by myself. problem? in all this great work was somewhere a memory bug hidden. there was no error you just feed to the cli and call it a day. after 4 days debugging i found the bug. needless to say, gemini did not even once came close to where the bug was in the guessing game... will this change in the future? we will see...

My recent expierience: 2023: install windows on new machine. Login to microsoft account. Use computer.

2025: install windows on new machine. Try to log in to microsoft account. Cant. Use usb key. I dont have one. Use authenticator. Message is not show in authenticator. Use password. Wrong password (it was 100% the correct one) give up and use offline account. New try to log in: nothing works. In the end i had to reset my password.
