Because monorepo people are embracing the light, while the other are stuck in darkness ? Who knows;
It is fully legal, as in most places, because we are talking about exploiting legal loopholes

Still loopholes, but still the law and, as such, legal :)

Spending half a billion of hard-earned money, for the good of the people ! Truly inspiring !

Yes
Re:Why are good developers so wary of agentic development? on Saturday October 31, 2026 @02:44PM (#50318796)
Linus is reaching his end of (professionnal) life

He has nothing to lose

Some people still have a future to build :)

You are not alone
Re:AI promised less work. I've never worked more on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @07:27PM (#50267333)
I am betting on #3 !

There are nothing to be done wrt #1 nor #2

Re:AI promised less work. I've never worked more on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @07:10PM (#50267184)
This will and, afaik, is already done by people who have to pay :)
Not a trick, that's exactly what I wrote: surely, such civilization would have everything to sustain the basic needs of its people;

If there are too many people, that means birth control

Basic needs does not includes entertainments either :)

No: he seems to think that profit shall not be more important that human life

I kind of agree with him: probably, a civilization deemed to be called "advanced" would have everything in place to sustain the basic needs of its members: that would be the baseline of everything

This reminds me of a funny experience at work

They linked some internal llm with all the confluence documentation sets

My product owner tried to find information about our product, as a regular user would, so feel the experience from a user's perspective

It was a failure: only random, generic answers were received

Then, he retried, specifically citing our main confluence pages: it was a success

Conclusion: for the users that already know were is the documentation, the tool is helpful. Reading the page would be also helpful.

Conclusion (reworded): if you know where is the treasure, then the magic gold-detector will work;

These companies are burnings billions each year to train new models for .. nothing ? Out of pure stupidness ? There probably is a reason
There are no "free models", you know ?

There are model that some people are paying for and choose to let you use gratis because that brings them value at the moment (eg: it hurts the competition);

Once/when the war is over, nobody will keep paying billions per year pro bono;

Just ask the LLM for these words, obviously !
Re:We should be more ambitious with the software we build on Sunday October 25, 2026 @06:09AM (#50229941)
This website hits near-perfection
Re:What's Wrong with AI? on Saturday October 24, 2026 @03:05PM (#50224086)
It would be without AI, obviously !

Because nobody would think of doing such evil thing, because nobody would support such thing

There are bozos everywhere
The registry operator for .com has all the privileges (regarding certificate generation) over all .com domains

As such, DANE would not add more issue here;

DNSSEC is easy to deploy (of course, you need to know your work, which is rarely the case). Legacy-first mindset is not really productive;

That's is correct, but on the other hand, incorrect: as a .com registry, I can:

  - fake the CAA records
  - fake the DCV records
  - make any CA sign any certificates
People would not even notice because, if a given website is commonly signed by LE, I can trick LE into signing a new certificate for me. The transparency logs would just show that LE signed a certificate, as usual. Again: registries have already all the power in the world (it is a good thing: not the current issue :) )
Re:There isn't an easy exploit for this PHP vulnerability on Thursday October 22, 2026 @05:25PM (#50201269)
Sane people are doing patch management regularly, so no extra work is required here

Insane people never do patch management, so why would they now ? Updating your shit is not a 2026 discovery ..

Re:eMudhra to Exit Global SSL/TLS Certificate Business on Thursday October 22, 2026 @04:01PM (#50200237)
Why would a CA "have" to sign anything ?

By signing eMudhra's CA, sectigo put their own responsability on the table

And by doing so without sufficient checking of the signee's quality, they prove to the world that they shall not be trusted

Re:EMudhra Intermediate CA Compromise on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @05:40AM (#50178113)
To get the first private key:

  from cryptography.hazmat.primitives import serialization
  from cryptography.hazmat.primitives.asymmetric import ec
  from cryptography.hazmat.backends import default_backend

  private_key = ec.derive_private_key(
      private_value=4,
      curve=ec.SECP384R1(),
      backend=default_backend()
  )

  serialized_private = private_key.private_bytes(
      encoding=serialization.Encoding.PEM,
      format=serialization.PrivateFormat.PKCS8,
      encryption_algorithm=serialization.BestAvailableEncryption(b'plop')
  )
  print(serialized_private.decode('utf-8'))

Could you explain how other regions were impacted today ?
Re:How the Claude Code team does code review on Friday October 16, 2026 @03:41PM (#50123490)
I, too, can write and merge 30000 changes per day. Even 300000 if I've up to.

Of course, just like "line of code" is a worthless metric, "change merge per day" is;

  for i in {1..10000000}
  do
    echo "I am working !" >> README.md
    git add README.md
    git commit -s -m "feat: working with AI"
  done
(automerged PR, JOB IS DONE)
Re:How the Claude Code team does code review on Friday October 16, 2026 @03:38PM (#50123455)
90% ?

A random twitter said that, 6 month ago, it was 100% !

DECLINE ! SELL THE STOCK OPTIONS ! (wait, there are none, confused!)

Re:Suicide rates highest ever among middle-aged men on Friday October 16, 2026 @03:10PM (#50123018)
Exactly !

Seriously: one shall not confuse "end of the world" with "end of our world" nor with "end of a world"

Re:Suicide rates highest ever among middle-aged men on Thursday October 15, 2026 @03:12PM (#50108758)
The world as we know it will end by the time GenZ/Alpha are "in charge", they will never get the opportunity to say anything

As we speak, kids have been rapped by covid, lockdowns, meaningless studies, now jobless, apparently futureless and meaningless; That's 5 criticals years of their lives that is lost forever and that this generation will never recover from;

Re:Suicide rates highest ever among middle-aged men on Thursday October 15, 2026 @03:07PM (#50108697)
Which can be resumed as "you are a slave and you must live and suffer because if not, the master will be sad"

Perhaps suicide is sometime the only sane answer in an insane world; Perhaps one must actually be sane to commit suicide (which is why there are so few of them, in the end);

And everyone supporting them through money.
Reminder of the meaning of "may": https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/may

"used to express possibility"

As such, the headline is correct !

Also correct: AI models may be burger's evolution.

Also correct: AI models may be a practical joke.

Also correct: AI may be an illusion planted in the people's mind through vaccine covid.

"May" is truly a beautiful word :)

Re:QGIS bans AI assisted contributions on Monday October 12, 2026 @01:54PM (#50060173)
Is this a remake of "just spend 15 days near a whiteboard, then write the code and it will be awesome" ?

Have you ever heard of the V model (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V-model) ?

Long story short: it does not work, because the act of coding adds new valuable inputs that alters the (original) design.

One might say "you just have to know", which is an equivalent to "you just have to figure out the future", "you just have to be perfect" and other non-sense (which does explain why V cycle does not work, high inefficient, low quality outcome, bad method)
