DoorDash has absolutely added restaurants without consent, the other food delivery apps as well, they call them non partnered listing. California, Colorado, and maybe other states have passed laws against it.
DoorDash got sued by In-N-Out for doing this.

That last sentence reads very AI, very common sentence structure for AI. Pangram does give it a high confidence 100% generated, and Pangram is tuned for a low false positive rate.
It's very possible GP used AI to translate to English. In my experience llms love to change sentences to match their own preferred ways of speaking when translating.
Because AI-generated text goes against HN guidelines.

Presumable a handful do, in the short term at least.
No.
In 2008 George Bush was president and he's the one who signed the bailout proposed by his treasury secretary. It would have happened under Democrats too no doubt, but saying it was done by Democrats and Republicans have no interest in them is just not true to reality.
This is just like when crypto people were pretending their NFT/metaverse games were fun, it's pretty funny.
The tech industry has been getting away with doing gross things for a long time now and people are sick of it. Every year people see news of tech giants breaking the law and getting a billion dollar fine and every year they also see on the news those companies make increasingly absurd profits.
Google and facebook are the face of the destruction of privacy. On every announcement that gets posted of Google doing yet again something that increases their control over what you do, in order to serve more ads, people always comment about wanting it broken up.
Hate and distrust of the tech industry is probably the most common opinion across all demographics, other than SV residents I suppose.
I guess they see AI companies either get bought or receive funding for billions and desperately want a piece of that pie so will do anything to make their company at least look like an AI company i.e. "AI-first".
I guarantee you he chats with an LLM on a daily basis.
I'm not sure common urban/highway speed limits like 30mph/70-75mph line up better than the 50kmh/100-110kmh you see in Canada.
Newer platforms will tend to skew younger for sure. I was too young to get into irc really but even when I was young instant messaging services like MSN Messenger were vastly more mainstream than forums. So maybe it's not really based on age.
But I do see, generally young, people join niche discords that don't necessarily see 24/7 activity say something like "Hey anyone here?" then a few minutes later "lol dead server". I think it's because for a lot of younger people they mostly want the socialization aspect over just a place to share about a hobby. They go on discord when they want to talk to people.
Discord is popular because a very significant amount of people prefer the casual social instant chatting aspect over the slower threaded style of forums, especially young people.
The 80's Japanese train station clip also had the conductor speaking clear english in an accent I can't quite place. Slight British tinge to it but not really? Not sure. The ambient audio also makes no sense.
I've seen weird stuff in images that OpenAI sends me in it's promotional emails too. I would think that if you were trying to show off you'd make sure there's none of these obvious AI issues in what you choose to show off with. Maybe they don't really care? "Gemini choose 10 scenes that would be impressive for our announcement and add them to the post."
What's the token spend ratio between a household vs a software developer? If the future customer growth comes from regular households I don't think very much of them will spend nearly as much.
> What am I missing?
That SpaceX's valuation is almost entirely from being an AI company not a rocket company. Their S-1 put rockets as around 5% of their TAM.
Generic sales copy used to mostly just be a thing for business sites and Linkedin. I suppose since this site is trying to sell the map it basically is one.
It's not something unique to reddit, even classic forums will often have a self promotion section or thread, Discord servers will often have a self promotion channel. HN has a guideline against posting your own stuff too much.
Spam is a problem and has been since the dawn of the internet. Efforts to limit it will always affect innocent people to some degree but it's not really feasible to not do anything. And reddit especially has an astroturfing problem since it became such a popular source for recommendations. Like, just looking at GP's profile here kinda adds some context as to why they might say this change makes reddit useless to them.
Eh don't beat yourself up. Value for these sorts of things are extremely condition dependent, if you were playing with them then they would already not be in the condition to fetch these kinds of price.
The flip side is when you see someone who has never interacted with a community before come in and drop a big announcement written in Claudish about some new port they just released (with a ko-fi link already set up of course), you kinda feel like they're the ones chasing fame and fortune.
In the modding community I'm most active in, counter-strike, I have seen someone come in and literally ask if there was money in it and if not what game would be best to make mods for to make some money.
It's because you otherwise get loads of self promotion spam by people only interested in promoting what they have to sell, who don't otherwise participate in, or care about, the community.
A Venn diagram that is very nearly a circle.
I think a lot of "unproductive" people who use AI to "100x their output" in things they're not good at delude themselves into thinking they're being productive. You see people post vibe coded "projects" on places like linkedin where no one will ever use or look at it, and it doesn't even serve as a learning project. Or people who used to hate writing now posting complete slop blog posts 3 times a week which no one will ever read.
To be an old guy with experience you need to start as a young guy.
I wonder how much of the people who comment in defense of these kinds of things work for Flock/Palantir or something surveillance related. Often when there's discussion of ads you also have people who chime in with "I think personalized ads are very useful" comments. And I'm intensely suspicious of these since seeing someone get called out once.
> (3) If GLM 5.3 really is that good why would anybody use Anthropic's products going forward, this almost reads like an ad for GLM.
Maybe they're trying to frame it like "Other models are only good because they copy us and we're making sure they can't do that, so going forward you should stick with us."
> you see so many people loudly exclaiming "every programmer uses LLMs now"
I see a lot of people going even further and claim that "it's impossible not to use LLMs now."
Not just among programmers talking about code either, you see it with non-tech people defending their overly long emoji-ladden AIspeak text posts.
I have seen a job application with a requirement of having contributed to an open source project with a certain minimum number of github stars.
Because even if you had AI make the website surely you'd be able to describe what your project is yourself if you cared about it.
I made a similar reply to another comment here but,
It really gives me the ick when I see websites about things like game modding projects, things that are for-fun creative projects, and they're full of AI linkedin-speak. I feel like if you were excited about building a mod for a game you wouldn't need AI to describe it for you, or write the announcements/reddit posts trying to reach out to the community.
Websites for what were ostensibly hobby projects didn't use to have a bland corporate look to them.
