Is charging just enough rent to reasonably mantain the building such a strange prospect?

Wire harness making is basically a 100% human task now, this is one of the biggest things that would need to get automated but it's a PITA with huge variation and connectors with poor-fish documentation

A person with an Wikipedia page is not "some tech employee"

Google dumping a project when it does not produce instant results?

That seems out of character

Can we go on a small tangent and wonder how we don't know when the guy was born?

I mean, yeah, that’s to be expected.

The site is intentionally kept visually unappealing.

It is not "in ancient times"

This is a product of a resource rich economy, you can see it today.

While metal printing is attainable..it generally produce shit, surface quality wise. You still need to CNC that if you want a surface roughness not measured in mm

And is not like a 5axis could not produce these fan geometries from a block

Re:New 10 GbE USB adapters are cooler, smaller, cheaper on Saturday April 25, 2026 @05:24AM (#47900004)
Note:

Some devices expect USB-A on the charger side instead of C

USB-A pump out 1A5V(5W) regardless of what's connected to it, then it negotiate higher power if available.

USB C-C does not give any power if the receiving device is not able to negotiate it

Re:New 10 GbE USB adapters are cooler, smaller, cheaper on Saturday April 25, 2026 @04:04AM (#47899626)
Eh.

A lot of laptops won't accept less than 60w

My work laptop won't accept less than 90w (A modern HP, i7 155h with a random low end GPU)

At first everyone at the office just assumed that the USB C wasn't able to charge the pc

Not only that, google has an advange because they don't need to always generate a response.

When a lot of people ask the same thing they can just index the questions, like a results on the search engine and recalculate it only so often,

Well, users or _paying_ users?

It's an important distinction

Re:France pulls last gold held in US for $15B gain on Monday April 06, 2026 @08:32AM (#47660079)
The problem is that there isn't simply an efficient solution for everything. At one point every problem has solutions with pros and cons

France could do it as it is a rich and big country but smaller countries do not have a viable choice. This reasoning could have been applied to France too in another universe.

It's a balance impossible to totally tilt one way or another.

So no amount of extra information could help when it's matter of opinion at the end of the day

Re:France pulls last gold held in US for $15B gain on Monday April 06, 2026 @08:07AM (#47659844)
This behavior is economically inefficient, that's why it's criticized. And it's undeniable

But the point is that "economical efficiency" is not the only metric that matters, stability and power do not come cheap.

Because Apple does not enforce uniformity
I'm in that group.

It's not "getting used to", I feel like that gesture is less practical. It involves or using the "circle" to assist on how to use the gesture (creating a black void on the screen that you need to plan your use of the phone around) or having the swipe that 1) is not as reliable in my opinion and 2) can be triggered accidentally

For me is like claiming that touch screens on cars are the future and people are too old to get used to it.

What about going "back" INSIDE an application?

Think for example reddit, you open a thread, how do you go back?

You open the "reply window, now ho you ho back? Maybe close it directly?

I Android this is all handled by the same function and is often ranked as the most frustrating design choice in IOS

I was referring to IOS, not MACOS

Androids do have universal back button at the bottom on the phone or the same swipe gesture if you want but iphones do not.

Sometimes swipe (the direction and position is a guessing game), sometimes and x (right or left ) and the behavior is inconsistent too (back or close)

There are some guidelines but more often than not seems like every app has it's own method and you need to get used to it

The evergreen question of "how do you go back and/or close an app on IOS?"
I can see the right branding: CopePilot

Re:OCR For construction documents does not work on Monday March 30, 2026 @01:53PM (#47577522)
I'm not really sure and I don't have access to it, I just recive flat PDFs or TIFFs

A lot of them are "archival" so I'm pretty OOL

When will this be available for 30000x8000px electrical diagrams?

I have to make a BOM and oh boy I hate my job

It's often that a lot of "NTA" answers are downright antisocial.

"No one owns you anything, you don't own anyone anything" mentality, without a crumb of social awareness.

Re:Europe's $24T Breakup with Visa and Mastercard Has Begun on Tuesday February 10, 2026 @11:16AM (#46961961)
Depends if we are talking credit or debt cards

The low fees are for debt and high for credit cards and VISA/MC won't allow you to accebt only the debt cards

Re:Discord Alternatives, Ranked on Tuesday February 10, 2026 @07:47AM (#46959020)
probably because it is classified as a "messaging app" and while it has a ton of features it still misses the "structure" of a discord alternative

i just wonder why TeamSpeak is not there
