Re:Bringing Clojure programming to Enterprise (2021) on Thursday April 02, 2026 @01:48PM (#47617733)
My pain point (which I admit didn't recheck if someone did something about it), is an interoperable example of how to use Spring (n.1 framework for many enterprises) with Clojure.

Something where I feel Kotlin did better.

For me the best way to introduce something like this is that I can actually start with small software increments on a Spring Java project.

I agree with her manager. She needs to preserve her health. Involving HR doesn't mean the manager is not with her.
Same experience. We found Miele in the apartment we bought. We understood the why for the price. Worth it.
Re:The Llama 4 herd on Saturday April 05, 2025 @04:34PM (#43596612)
For a super ignorant person:

Both Llama 4 Scout and Llama 4 Maverick use a Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) design with 17B active parameters each

Those experts are LLM trained on specific tasks or what?

Re:Digital Archivists: Protecting Public Data from Erasure on Wednesday April 02, 2025 @11:38PM (#43564448)
The fact that you get it out from your criminal record doesn't mean they get forgotten. Think about a paper writing about your crime. That will be public and archived forever.
Re:When AI Promises Speed but Delivers Debugging Hell on Sunday January 26, 2025 @10:49AM (#42830822)
I don't know which specific LLM your friend used but pasting the error to the LLM usually ends in a endless loop where they tell you to do the same thing over and over again or the solution doesn't really work or generate another error.

So maybe he was lucky or he is using a very good LLM I'm not aware of.

Re:Ask HN: How can I realistically change careers? on Saturday January 18, 2025 @01:46AM (#42746409)
Is that true in general though? I think if you good at the fundamentals the current status of technology is actually not that important. What I'm trying to say is most of us don't send people to Mars so the technological setup is way less important than the right product market fit. If the fundamentals hold you should be fine.
Re:Ask HN: Are you unable to find employment? on Sunday December 29, 2024 @04:47PM (#42543597)
I don't think it's a problem per say but if same company and no role change means I'm hiring someone who doesn't like changes which in certain cases it's ok in certain cases not what someone is looking for. I don't think it's right or wrong without the context of the hiring manager.
Re:Ask HN: Are you unable to find employment? on Sunday December 29, 2024 @06:32AM (#42539313)
No it's not just you.

There is a focus in recovering from post pandemic therefore the marching order is to hire only in India in the case of company as a low cost solution.

But I just did an interview in another company and in their case is also low cost but EU.

So yeah. That's the song playing right now.

very cool!

I just love this game.
Re:Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (October 2024) on Monday October 28, 2024 @07:06AM (#41969838)
I'm absolutely not impressed by reddit search functionality. I like to play metrodivanias but when I want to find something specific for a specific game, the search is just too random.

So I wrote this: https://www.gamingsofa.club/ which is a scraper for metroidvanias reddit posts.

The list of games is taken through Steam and than I just listen to the subreddit for new posts.

Currently I show every possible post even if it gets moderated on reddit.

Can I run more than one app on the same VPS with this solution?

I now run more than one app into one single VPS.

Regarding tailscale, be sure to remove the expiration flag on your server. That's how I lost mine.

You can use sideloadly my friend. No need of a computer after first installation of sideloadly itself.
Re:Make Your Program Slower with Threads on Sunday June 09, 2024 @10:25AM (#40624632)
Same happened to me. I used random then deployed to product. I could see the CPU on grafana going nuts. That was one rollback I never forgot.

For me it's how you discover one by one elements of the history of the "aliens" and how you use the physics to solve some puzzles. I also love the story. IMHO is one of the best videogames ever made together with Obra Dinn

Thanks, I'm building a website focused on Metroidvanias. I liked the results so I was thinking I may use it to offer some interesting results on the various game pages.

Re:Teaching C (2016) on Saturday January 06, 2024 @08:34AM (#38891290)
I'm a contract professor at uni. I think that he should put which kind of students you are teaching C to.

I am their first experience at university and for some of them C us their first programming experience.

In this case my only advice is just keep repeating the same subject in more than one lesson.

What is suggested into the article seems to me more about "how do I run C in production".

But good suggestions anyway, I'll review them to see what I could use if it makes sense maybe when we do lab.

Re:Maersk to cut 10k jobs as shipping demand drops on Sunday November 05, 2023 @02:37AM (#38149119)
Maersk didn't hire to meet demand. They didn't build new vessels to meet demand. Freight rates went up at same capacity as before pandemic.
Re:Ask HN: Any interesting books you have read lately? on Thursday August 17, 2023 @06:32AM (#37159627)

For pleasure: Altered Carbon Trilogy

Re:A Modern C Development Environment on Friday August 11, 2023 @03:10AM (#37085951)
I have a side job of teacher at university, sometimes I have to teach C fundamentals. I was looking into giving my students a standard setup. This looks awesome.

Have my thanks.
