The problem is they do damage, at home and as a teacher, you get to compete against the dopamine kick for attention - the whole day, even if the device is not around

Re:Sycophancy in GPT-4o on Wednesday April 30, 2025 @03:08AM (#43842079)
I want to highlight the positive asspects. Chat GPT sycophancy highlighted sycophants in real-life, by making the people sucking up appear more "robot" like. This had a cleansing effect on some companies social life.
The protective moat, the death of innovation
Usually industry insiders just switch jobs directly into the bureaucracy writing the laws?
The line goes up, democracy is fine, the future will be good. Disregard reality
Miss`d Steaks were made!
Somewhere, there is some intern commented out test for this feature.
And it will come back to hunt bell, as there ip can no be invalidated in europe and get a tactical defeat in the tit for tat that the ip-laws have decayed into.

Cashier scribbles furiously to add to cash register later
The third order effect of handing out money for nothing, is the chicks coming home to roost as anti-education movements tear down the nation.
But then the ip-poachers wait for you at the gates. Investing into the new thing, in a world order where copying the new thing is the best game approach, makes R&D a looser strategy. You need temporary punishment tariffs on products that steal IPs to recuperate the investments and make it a bad strategy - or else..

Patents do not work - because the rule of law does not exists without the international order and goverments have a tendency to trade away such cases for protection of big players.

And they did, because the imperialist, walled-in-gardens, zero-sum multipolar world ran its cause and produced the hyper-imperialist zero-sum lebensraum madness that was nazi-germany. The old world was a dead end- and with nukes everywhere soon, its a dead end for humanity.

We either solve our problems together or we all die together.

Re:Future Chips Will Be Hotter Than Ever on Thursday April 17, 2025 @04:05AM (#43714216)
I guess future designs will have a cooling ring integrated into the chiplets.. the dark silicon starts up, finds in the memory shared with the previous hot silcone the instructions and cache, computes till heat death, stores all it did in the successor chiplet - it all is on a ring like structure, that is always boiling in some cooling liquid its directly immersed in, going forever round and round. It reminds me of the Ian M. Banks setup of the fireplanet Echronedal in the player of games.

Re:Tomb Engine on Tuesday April 15, 2025 @08:05AM (#43691542)
You goto patch the Excavator 1.0 engine to be able to alter "land" its kind of finicky
The problem is- they are not anti-racist honest. You are either nurture or nature, but if its all nurture, they refuse to discuss that part, compare those parts, work out the problematic parts and compose better societal models. They just idealise, bigott stay quiet and adverse engage only with those who respond civilized. Its all lies and damned lies and statistics.
But Lewis story is a flat- carbon copy, with just characters appearance replaced /enhanced with fantasy elements. Its basically a fanfiction bible painted over.
But this is also, what makes tolkiens lore so deep. The iceberg tips of the past, tipping out of the ground as the ruins of angmar, the sunken lands in the west, numenor - run down kings of fallen empires walking the wild as striders. The great-great-servants barely holding once great kingdoms together, fallen citys that are the background of battles.
Re:Canadian math prodigy allegedly stole US$65M in crypto on Monday April 14, 2025 @10:55AM (#43682003)

Passive Non-Comittance (I will need more information, more prediction power, more certainty about future events) ironically is still more expensive, then active Non-Comittance (We just built all the implementation-components in such a way they can be exchanged later).
Your solution is better.. you could actually detect a change in characteristics by adding that to the shock absorbers..
If they scream NO in the same loud voice they do on taxes, something is working.
Was there a plan and logic to outsourcing those jobs and leaving half the country to fend for itself and beg for handouts though?
Could you turn a bikeframe into a capacitive sensor and detect forming cracks that way?
