Are you a bot?
Turtle WoW also attempted to rebuild the entire game client from scratch in Unreal Engine, using Blizzard's art, textures and maps.
Re:200GB Free Cloud for Your Files on Sunday October 06, 2024 @03:01PM (#41759286)
From what I've seen, there's actually two different levels of free tier. There's the one where you make an account and don't give them your payment info, and are on a free trial (availability of Ampere servers is severely limited in this, and they deactivate your account if you don't sign in often enough or use the servers you create), and the other where you give them payment information and set up a real account and get credits towards 200GB storage and the free tier compute.

My guess is that people who complain about their stuff being deleted are on the former.

Re:But this mind-blowingly server just, like, arrived on Saturday February 17, 2024 @11:59PM (#39416344)
Actual title: "Dave's not here, man. But this mind-blowingly huge server just, like, arrived"

This post's title leaves the word "huge" out, which breaks the readability.

+1. I've read in various forums they will only install it if the construction cost is less than a few thousand dollars. This means they will say it's "available" on the order page, but then decline to install it.
That's Spotlight, not Finder.
Re:Why are Apple Silicon VMs so different? on Friday December 29, 2023 @07:56AM (#38804373)
It’s not Apple Silicon specific either. I don’t understand the title. Maybe it should have been “Apple’s virtualization API and VirtIO driver support on Apple Silucon”
My years of watching TV shows has taught me that this guy is definitely a secret agent.
They are removing the Xorg server, but not X entirely. They will continue to support X through Xwayland.
Nice work! I was initially confused how to enter the notes, as I didn’t realize I needed to scroll down to see the keyboard (on mobile). I kept tapping the white squares but it did nothing.

I also wish there was a way to play more than one. Maybe allow me to do the previous days?

This is a link to their privacy policy, on a page titled "Visa Global Privacy Notice". Is the title of this post wrong?

I just rode Cruise for the first time tonight. Within the first 5 minutes of the ride, the car got stuck in the middle of two different intersections. Both times it just sat there with its hazards on while someone remotely tried to unstuck it. All the while, drivers around us were honking (rightfully so). Soon after that, the car turned right on red at an intersection with a sign saying not to.

These cars also drive much slower than others and frequently stop unnecessarily, which annoys every other driver, and causes more honking.

Based on that experience, I totally understand why folks are frustrated with them. Especially drivers who need to drive around these stopped cars everywhere.

Keep in mind that M2 has lackluster support. Specifically the Mac Mini has no display output (either via HDMI or USB-C DisplayPort).
This is not about Autopilot, it’s about the “Full Self-Driving” system.
I feel very out of the loop here. Who is this person, and why is it necessary for people to vouch for them?
Re:Apple Vision Pro: Apple’s first spatial computer on Monday June 05, 2023 @07:20PM (#36205713)
I went to Meta’s quest page. I see controllers everywhere. Are those optional? https://www.meta.com/quest/

Which other headsets are using this display tech?

Re:ESP32 Buyer’s Guide: Different Chips, Firmware, Sensors on Saturday February 04, 2023 @08:09PM (#34660457)
A word of warning on this. It uses a custom fork of LLVM/Clang/Rust which adds support for a new architecture. The tooling that sets up this environment has failed in obscure ways each time I’ve attempted to set up and build one of their own hello world samples.
That doesn’t mean that every observable behavior needs to be supported or continue.
I see no evidence in your post that mediaanalysisd reaching out to an Apple server is related to CSAM detection. Have you analyzed the traffic?
I've used Quip at work for years, and it consistently has issues with losing changes during concurrent editing, attributing who made a change, and its search and organization are quite bad. Integrating Quip into Slack gives me one more reason not to put important things in Slack.
Re:Is Silicon Valley’s golden era coming to an end? on Saturday September 17, 2022 @07:11PM (#32882548)
It's a Saturday, so the market isn't even open. Not sure where you're seeing a 17% drop. Regardless, It's trading at $150, and was trading at $130 on 6/15/22.
Re:Swift was poised to replace Python. Then it tanked on Monday September 05, 2022 @10:32PM (#32732046)

Swift has indeed achieved one important victory: It has all but replaced Objective-C in many companies. That being said, it hasn’t been able to bite off much off Python’s market share.
Swift's primary goal was to be a better language for Apple's platforms and replace Objective-C. It seems like by that metric, it's been successful. Most programming languages don't become the next Python, even if their community aspires for them to. I'd hardly call a programming language not becoming Python "tanking".
Re:Leon: Open-source, self-hosted personal assistant on Sunday September 04, 2022 @01:39PM (#32715559)
And yet, I set out to find what this thing can do. I read the README.

Today, the most interesting part is about his core and the way he can scale up. He is pretty young but can easily scale to have new features (skills). You can find what he is able to do by browsing the packages list.
Sounds good for you? Then let's get started!
The packages list is a dead link. https://github.com/leon-ai/leon/tree/develop/packages
The Autopilot visualization is different than the FSD visualization, and the FSD UI shows significantly more detail. Go search YouTube for some FSD videos and you’ll see what it looks like.

Looks like they have copied and pasted large amounts of code from Cocotron.
What are the "Human guidelines" from Apple? Do you mean the Human Interface Guidelines (aka HIG)? From what I could see in the examples, this doesn't look very Apple-like.
Re:Starlink for RVs on Tuesday May 24, 2022 @01:57AM (#31488493)
I watched the video, and agree with all of your points. He strongly implies that Starlink is no better than existing satellite providers. My parents live in a rural area where the best non-satellite internet is 3mb/s DSL. They subscribe to Starlink, since there are no other viable options that allow things like video calling or HD video streaming.

Viasat offers 30mb/s download for $199/mo with a 150GB data cap. HughesNet offers 25mb/s download for $159/mo with a 75GB data cap. Starlink offers ~100mb/s download for $110/mo with no data cap.

Viasat/HughesNet have geostationary satellites which results in almost unusable ping (300-600ms), compared to the 50ms ping from Starlink.
