Re:Ask YC: Why is emacs a great editor? on Wednesday September 24, 2008 @09:23AM (#313452)
I am no coder, I use Emacs as my 'DTP package. But I can relate something rom graphic design. Why a graphician should be able to draw stuff with pen and paper rather than only work at the computer? Because the connection between thought and hand is faster with pen and paper. Hence, broadband output and feedback loop. Not just faster but enhaced quality: so fast that feedback loop becomes subconscious, direct, flow. Maybe in programming with vi /emacs the same thing occurs.

A dish I like for breakfeast: - grits (cooked) together with ham & eggs - fresh tomatos as "salad"

Grits are awesome to start the day with because they are not lying heavy in your stomach but the energy lasts long.

Re:Why do you have to click Start to shut down? on Saturday September 13, 2008 @10:22AM (#303117)
BUt it is far from 'good enough', it is a hindrance to productivity.
That's what I found too: install 1-2 of those lif-hacks and you are way better off. Fiddle around with more and you just wasted your time. Thanks, though, for the (not very deep but stil profound) analysis.
43folders is a name that actually makes sense. The one item of productivity pr0n that is t unique to GTD is the tickler file. An arrangement which consists of 43 folders.
Re:How Apple can gain significant OS market share on Monday September 01, 2008 @07:15AM (#291849)
Thanks for understanding the problem space. Just one addition: the Mac competes in some markets for market share. Just not for overall PCish OS installations world wide.
