The biggest piece of advice I can gave you: develop everything! What I mean by that is just create lots of applications, and try to change their target so you aren't creating different versions of the same application. I admit I haven't looked at in recent years but I used to read: http://www.dreamincode.net/ a lot. You can search the forums for side project ideas if you are at a loss for your next project.

While this is a true statement, I don't really like this mentality in our field. Just the thought that hiring managers want you to have 15 side projects and a full Github profile, and also work 16 hour days at the office. If you are a programmer/developer and you don't eat your meals at a computer desk while staring at code, you are seen as less.
I love developing it was the best career move i've ever made, but you know what? I also love friends, hiking, jogging, going to the gym, video games, playing guitar, and watching movies.
I don't live to work. I work to pay for the stuff I like to do outside of work.

Totally agree, I really hope they do not try to make it something that it never was with detailed story arcs. The original was great.

I really enjoyed this post. I feel the same way, I do love coding and working on software projects doesn't feel like work to me. I spent my high school years and college years(and I graduated years after I should have from taking two years off after freshmen year) working fast food and grocery stores. I know what work feels like.
However, I don't and won't spend every waking hour I have doing one thing. This life has so much to offer and experience, I do not have a drive to spend 80 hours, nights and weekends like that. However, if the project calls for it every once in a while, fine, it's not a big deal until the company comes to expect that.

This is a good post, many people adopt using this kind of "services" package already. Most of the Time I call mine a 'manager' however.
Re:Ask HN: What apps you keep on your phone?

Most of the apps on my phone are based around the video games I am currently playing, and mobile games I use to waste time(reading literature?lol). As well as the normal social networking apps (snapchat and FB), 9Gag.
