Us lot?
I get what you're saying, but I found myself naturally doing this when talking about gender ambiguous animals or hypothetical people just because it made more sense. Nobody taught me this. Same with using "one" instead of "you", which I've never heard anyone do outside of ridiculing royalty.
Re:Native Americans had dice 12,000 years ago on Wednesday April 08, 2026 @06:51AM (#47688361)
Im not American, so my knowledge on the natives, or Indians as I'm told they prefer to call themselves, was based on media made by these colonial powers. I started reading into the subject recently and I find that the only thing the colonial powers seem to miss out is the brutal treatment of women, the gang rapes and the torture. Interestingly enough, the powers that be in New York that never had dealings with the Indians face to face had the same picture of peace loving land hippies in mind when telling southerners how to negotiate with them. The comanche specifically were some of the most impressive and frightening people I've ever read about.
I don't think steak is bad for you.
Makes sense if you want to make money, and have money enough to not have to suffer the worst of it yourself. Of course, nobody voted for it, but those that promised not to do it and did it anyway were democratically elected, so only a fascist would take issue with it surely.
A home made hamburger can be incredibly healthy.
Greys for me too, thanks to tv shows about abduction on tv as a kid no doubt
Re:Overcoming the Friendship Recession on Saturday March 28, 2026 @07:15PM (#47558919)
In my twenties my friend group had a gay jewish law student and an actual nazi, and everything in between. We all had the same sense of humour and didnt take ourselves seriously. The two guys specified would have deep and long conversations (not debates, not arguments) intonthe early hours while the rest of us fell asleep or left due to next day obligations. The only controversy I recall was when I said Conan the Barbarian is better than Lord of the Rings.
Re:The worst volume control UI in the world on Monday March 23, 2026 @05:18AM (#47487019)
Theres onoy an Up button for me. I had no idea you could Down anyone here.
I've lost count of the interactions Ive had or witnessed in which a living breathing authority on a subject is ignored in favour of using voice recognition to ask an LLM the question first, or worse, second.
Re:Japanese Death Poems on Wednesday February 25, 2026 @04:48PM (#47158431)
Does that apply to longer vowels with the same(ish) sound, as in 因果応報?
Ive noticed similar. I dont like the site, bit hopefully wiki are away of this and learn something from it. Some pages read like they were written by zealots rather than people documenting facts.
Re:ICE urged to explain memo about collecting info on protesters on Saturday February 07, 2026 @01:20AM (#46921764)
I just realised that in the UK this is normal. Oh dear.
Same. The only person I know who consumes it and isnt slow brained is a guy that eats it once a year in a brownie at some guys birthday party, and not every year.
Do you have anything to report in terms of mental or physical health after making this change, both short and long term? I quit sugar a long time ago I was just interested to read your experience compared to my own. I certainly had withdrawal and intense cravings to begin with and I wasn't particularly overeating or enjoying a poorly balanced diet at the time. I caught myself eating cookies and spitting them into the trash without swallowing so it "didnt count" before I decided I was going to ditch the stuff forever.
Im not one, but for me I just have ingredients that write the food off for me. Sugar, maltodextrin, aspartame etc. is a no. Rapeseed oil, palm oil etc. Its a lot easier than trying to decide if something is part of a category based on multiple factors, it either contains DO NOT EATs or it doesnt. I'm already going to read the ingredients on everything I buy so therrs no extra work. I can pick the word "sugar" out of any jumble of words immediately now.
Re:4chan founder created /pol/ board after meeting with Epstein on Wednesday February 04, 2026 @08:03AM (#46885346)
Perhaps its my phone browser or they removed it but Im not seeing a swastika logo loading the site at the moment. I do think theres more going on than that though. If a cukture creates a boogeyman the counterculture are boubd to embrace it, even if its only surface level (the nazis were not anti abortion or pro christian, for example)
Re:We (As a Society) Peaked in the 90s on Monday February 02, 2026 @04:19AM (#46853993)
Not sure how the world wars would have worked had the participating nations been nuclear capable. This invention is quite significant.
Isnt this the part where someone smugly says "freedom of assembly not freedom of consequences"
There were nazis on 4chan before pol. There was everything on 4chan before pol. Thats what the site was about. After initially being very japanese focused, it became... the opposite of whatever reddit is.

The problem with pol was the timing that ended up creating a refuge for right leaning american MAGA christians to come one and all. Though IIRC the site linked is some hard left twitter alternative that would probably define those people as nazis.

Yeah I used to enjoy forum discussions. Reddit is agree or stfu. It got worse a few years ago (probably longer than that) with a new rule change and something about chibese ownership?
When my daughter was young, maybe 8, she had access to a laptop. She wasnt glued to it, but it was her little computer for fooling around on. One day my PC died and I had important things to do, so I used her laptop. As I typed into the address bar some prior history popped up and I had a moment where I wondered if I should respect her privacy or make sure shes being safe. By the time Id done my emails I decided to take a peek. I regretted it as soon as I saw her search for "funny memes" or something followed minutes later by "funny memes for kids". To this day she complains that nobody in her age group knows how to use a search engine without writing a full sentence in the form of a question, instead of using key words.

The govt is a shit parent.

Re:Some Epstein file redactions are being undone with hacks on Wednesday December 24, 2025 @10:35PM (#46381844)
Any redactions of note? Going full conspiratard here and assuming this information that was accidentally censored ineffectively also reveals nothing new.
Re:South Korea – A Cautionary Tale for the Rest of Humanity on Friday December 19, 2025 @11:47AM (#46327893)
As racist as it sounds, to me, I'm not looking at the numbers as a sum of the human race entirely. Both in terms of loss of peoples (I dont like seeing ethnic groups diminished) but also because I dont think india or africa picking up the slack for the west and southeast asia is some skin deep inconsequential issue.
The corporation being legally a person sadly enables actual amoral people.
Re:Brexit reduced UK GDP by 6-8%, investments by 12-18% [pdf] on Sunday November 23, 2025 @11:42AM (#46024873)
And their representatives didn't want to leave so decided to drag their feez and do a shit job of it anyway. I didn't vote either way but I expect those paid to represent us to actually do it.
Anything that replaces the hormone wrecking wonder waste product we have everywhere is a win. Its just hard to beat the price in a world where money is most important.
4 eggs a day isnt a shit ton of eggs by any means.
Correlation causation etc.

I've never met a pill popper that got up earpy for a run, had a solid active day routine and went offline after 7pm. Their solution is to remain sedentary and take a drug. No wonder their hearts are messed up.

Re:Facts about throwing good parties on Monday November 03, 2025 @05:57AM (#45797809)
"Once an event crosses a threshold (maybe 70%?) of male-or-female dominance, most people of the other gender are likely to decline"

Most guys I know would be eager to go to a party that had more women.
