I’m not “maga”, and I’m not eligible to vote anyway(not a US citizen) and there is no way I would have voted for her anyway.

You may consider how many potential voters the Democratic Party has lost through its anti democratic practices. There were no democratic processes to select her as the Democrats candidate. Similarly, Hillary was premiered via “super delegates” that took the vote from Bernie Sanders.

I believe we are seeing a similar fallout in these midterms for the republicans.

No, but the magnitude has changed.
Bill Joy, the unsung hero of the computer revolution.
Yes, I understand the point of the funnel. They are pedestrian hostile.

Ironically, they make it more difficult to “jaywalk” safely, as they block the easiest place to cross, forcing pedestrians to cross at a cross junction typically.

I am not saying Donald Trump #1 was some success story. The damage he did was low-to-moderate, all things considered.

Now, the damage is beyond repair. The USA is fucked, on a downward spiral that will be difficult(near impossible) to correct.

Re:The Megadonors Who Have Poured $1.2B into the Midterms on Monday November 02, 2026 @01:29AM (#50333728)
Kamala Harris lost because of the shady primary the democrats won. The public didn't like it. The USA assumed Donald Trump #2 would be similar to Donald Trump #1(Trump mostly golfing).

At least, that's my understanding.

There is no 'dialect' at play here, only ignorance.
The technology absolutely exist, and CFS are proving it.

Please note the date. This is the reactor being built. CFS has come a long way since inception. DEMO is a joke. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkpqA8yG9T4

"Norms" are not equal throughout the world. I live in Zürich(but I'm not from here) where the city is not totally dominated by car traffic. They are actively trying to get rid of cars from the city centre.

I frequent the UK. They literally put up BARRIERS around crossings to make it difficult for pedestrians to "jaywalk". I can hardly believe it!

Except on a much grander scale…

Switzerland rotates their President every year.

Opportunity cost. Instead of cheap energy for the local Norwegians, it is being used by the global capitalist elite.

We see this pretty much everywhere now, where resources are extracted and given to the wealthy.

Re:Dutch government had hacked into Jared Kushner's phone on Friday October 23, 2026 @02:06PM (#50213062)
The current USA leadership is hostile to the rest of the world and we need to know what the fuck they are going to do next.

Sort of how the police should keep tabs on violent criminals.

There is no "dehumanising".

How do we know these price cuts weren’t simply due to manufacturing of electric cars getting cheaper as the manufacturing process improves?
Re:Ukraine claims first drone evacuation of wounded soldier on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @01:18AM (#50161640)
Ukraine is not Iran.
I love all those things, started coding as a 10 year old(30 years ago).

The stuff I’m building is things I could only dream of before. With LLMs, I can build things in a year that would have taken me a lifetime before.

That was always a dumb argument.

If the pole is willing to work for a third of the price the local(I'm assuming Englishman), of course it is detrimental to UK labour.

Pretty good for the capital owning class, though.

No, but someone who has trained their whole life to run fast, surely will be able to coach someone else to run faster than someone who has been on the couch watching television?

I use LLMs to great advantage, solving problems in my domain. I no longer make for loops.

Re:"I'm on a War Footing": Terry Tao and the Crisis in Math on Monday October 19, 2026 @03:06AM (#50149270)
But isn't part of the problem that you simply don't have access to the hardware larger organisations do? OpenAI certainly run into the same constraints. but if they have access to terabytes of memory, while when you use the same model it's closer to 32GB, that will surely affect how the model behaves?

So the pain points you and I frequently run into, simply don't exist for a well connected individual(Sam Altman).

If Putin uses nukes, everyone will stop trade with them. Russia would be shunned. It would be suicide.
Re:Microsoft Teams is a red flag on Sunday October 18, 2026 @05:04AM (#50139299)
That's not at all a fact.
Denmark is dependent on hydro power and nuclear power from its neighbours.

Without it, the Danish people would experience regular black outs.

In these threads there are always people explaining how expensive nuclear power is.

Please remind me how my native country Sweden could build so many reactors for cheap in the 70s? Because to me it is evident that political decisions have killed European(and American) nuclear industry, thus creating this catch 22 where making new nuclear power is expensive because how expensive it is...

Nuclear power has been an outstanding success for Sweden, despite the irrational pushback. It could have been an even greater success...

No, they are arguing that's incredibly misleading to say "Denmark phased out coal and replaced it with wind".
Re:Musk approached Trump to slow down Starlink in Ukraine on Saturday October 17, 2026 @04:53AM (#50129189)
No it doesn't have "full democracy". Only Switzerland has a full democracy, in the world.

Most of (western) Europe has a bleak copy, representative democracy, where we get the representatives who are the best at advancing within a political organisation. Essentially, the worst type of yes man you can imagine.

Frankly, current Israel was not really built on top of empty land either.

Dubai is not really in the "middle of the desert". Dubai is a coastal city.

I don't think the aqueducts were beyond the understanding of those who came after the romans. But the romans were extremely organised and could cooperate.
