I've bought two pairs of boots from Aldi - one pair about a decade ago and are still my favourite pair, and another steel-toecapped safety shoe that I wear whenever I need to go to one of our manufacturing sites. Super comfy. And I think they were about £20 a piece.
It's a regular ('manually driven') consumer vehicle being produced by Jaguar Land Rover - it has been adapted by Waymo for self driving.

Looks more like its inspired by the Land Rover Defender 90 to me. I don't really see the resemblance to a Bronco.

I work on these units as a hardware engineer for a manufacturer. They are very clever bits of kit and a lot better than the other offerings on the market.

And to support your comment - yes, this isn't exclusive to Tesla by any means!

I work in the automotive industry for a manufacturer. All of our prototypes have big emergency stop buttons in the center console using 3D printed adapters to slot into the cup holders.

They just kill the engine and disconnect the battery. It's a legal requirement. Nothing fancy.

Could you point me at the datacenter utilization article? I can't seem to find it, and it sounds interesting
Re:Ask HN: What is a good laptop which is under $1000? on Monday March 17, 2014 @12:52PM (#7416257)
I would suggest a Lenovo Thinkpad W540, but that's a bit out of price range. Falling short of that, a Lenovo Thinkpad T440s .

If you look at the git commit history, you'll actually see it is a modified version of flatstrap.

I would whole-heartedly disagree. I think that everybody should at be proficient in as many practical skills as possible - an in depth knowledge is not required, simply a level of competency and an understanding of good practices and standards.

This applies to coding, plumbing, cooking, construction/DIY, auto repair, soldering and practically any skill that may come in handy.

Really?

I suppose I can't flaw it...

No you fool! These are designed to handle large loads, not protection from obsolescence!

Re:Ask HN: Your relationship or your dream? on Friday May 04, 2012 @12:02PM (#3928987)
Long distance relationships are not impossible. I found the key to make a vow of daily contact, even if its for less than a minute.

Best of luck :)

Re:Ask HN: Did you switch from Dropbox to Google Drive? on Thursday April 26, 2012 @04:00PM (#3895825)
I signed up for Google Drive, but only as a formality - Dropbox serves my needs well and has a much nicer interface, and doesn't have an awful privacy/data ownership policy.

I suggest you try and create your own brand, rather than trying to stand on the backs of the people that have worked so hard to make this site what it is over at ycombinator.

Hell, it just seems cheeky. And badly done.

Change the name, change the color scheme and maybe revamp the design... then you might have a good project.
