Like with everything in life, you have to do the things that scare you and the things you're unsure of. Confidence will come with experience. Exercise is a great way to build discipline too. Good luck!

Re:Is AI just another get rich quick scheme? on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @04:57PM (#50280795)
They know how to make money. These are some of the richest tech companies in the world, and selling access to AI is a way to make a profit. That said, I think there’s a limit on how far AI is allowed to develop, just to keep things from turning into some kind of sci-fi horror story.
Re:New iMac with M6 on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @02:37PM (#50278796)
It’s literally a pc that will last forever. My m2 macbook still handles all my work effortlessly.
It’s actually strange that he rejects AI, considering how much this tool speeds things up and helps with so many tasks.

Re:Tesla Roadster on Saturday October 17, 2026 @05:49AM (#50129524)
A toy for the ultra-rich. I don't see any other practical use for it, but yeah, it's cool...
Well, first of all, why does a coffee machine even need internet access? Can you play Doom on it too?
The wealthy owners of tech companies and other businesses will keep maximizing profits, just as capitalism demands. I think my kids will be learning skilled trades instead. AI will never replace builders or electricians.

They knew how to make stylish things in the ’80s. What’s wrong with it?
Re:40 years of writing code. I didn't see the end coming on Monday October 05, 2026 @05:45AM (#49962685)
For me, it’s only a good thing, because at the end of the day, it’s still just a job. The things I really love are my hobbies.
Re:Ask HN: What job boards are good these days? on Monday September 28, 2026 @09:40AM (#49877815)
LinkedIn is slowly becoming a job board for people who want to tell you they’re hiring, not actually hire anyone.
I'm pretty sure if they kept looking in cheaper motels, they would've found thousands of new organisms.
Re:Damned If You Do, Damned If You Don't on Monday September 28, 2026 @09:15AM (#49877445)
We spent decades telling non-native English speakers to sound more like native speakers, and now we suspect them of using AI when they finally do.
Re:Nokia Design Archive (2025) on Friday September 25, 2026 @09:06AM (#49844122)
Ah, back when I was a kid, Nokia phones were the best, with the best sound systems.
It still requires you to have skills. If anything, the scope of your knowledge just keeps expanding. I don’t really see any downsides, especially since it makes you money.
Re:The Mafia may be keeping fentanyl out of Italy on Friday September 25, 2026 @08:38AM (#49843782)
Humanity is being poisoned from all sides. The scariest part is that people willingly go along with it.
Re:I Built a Wine Atlas on Thursday September 24, 2026 @10:11AM (#49830902)
I’d definitely check this out, and maybe even try the whole wine history myself.
Re:Nokia Design Archive (2025) on Thursday September 24, 2026 @09:42AM (#49830466)
Yeah, they used to be way more adventurous with design. Retro-futurism and all that stuff. Now everything just looks so boring.

At this point, the camera is doing more reconstruction than photography.
The AI boom is turning into a massive race for HBM capacity.

Re:When did we stop looking up? on Thursday September 17, 2026 @07:59AM (#49739504)
It was a little sad to read this. It’s so easy to get lost in work and everyday life, lose your interests, and even lose the ability to just stop and take things in.
I have a feeling that the AI hype is going to die down soon, and it’ll happen within the next five years.
Re:Small Programming Tricks on Thursday September 17, 2026 @07:39AM (#49739333)

Re:Hacking IKEA Furniture on Monday August 31, 2026 @09:05AM (#49509298)

Re:Why do I lose my passion and want to do nothing? on Monday August 31, 2026 @08:55AM (#49509169)
