Re:Show HN: Use your OpenAI subscription to create audiobooks on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @03:39PM (#50077447)
Can people please get their terminology right, why am I getting clickbaited.
If the task is simple enough that you can throw AI at it with an intern and get it solved, then it should've been solved already in the first place. I'd argue in more mature organizations all the things that are "backlog todos" are such because there is inherent complexity that can not be solved simply by throwing tokens at it or there are too many unknown unknowns.
Re:AI is removing the middle class of software engineering on Wednesday August 12, 2026 @12:36PM (#49275091)
More like AI is exposing bad engineers faster than it would've been possible earlier. Previously they would simply outsource all their thinking to someone else, now they see massive progress with AI and delude themselves into wishful competence.
Re:How Claude marks AI-generated content on Monday August 10, 2026 @06:41PM (#49250885)
Wasn't enough to play cat and mouse with ad removal, now we can also do the same with watermarking.
Re:Mistral Patent for "Code implemented tool calls" on Monday August 10, 2026 @09:54AM (#49243706)
I'd like to patent the term "disadvertisement" and use this as a prime example.
Re:Taste Is All That's Left on Thursday August 06, 2026 @04:18PM (#49201894)
Hard disagree on "Good enough", most things are mediocre at best. Despite the massive AI boom I can at best count on one hand "fresh" products made with AI that are meaningful in day-to-day usage. Not to mention most of them seem to be targeting AI-space itself instead of bridging some actual business use case. Just look at all the products on ShowHN, you can "tell" a vibed product in seconds.
Re:How Google helped destroy adoption of RSS feeds (2023) on Saturday August 01, 2026 @05:00PM (#49138429)
I think the core issue is that it is hard to sell why you need an RSS, especially for the average user. It would not be uncommon to meet an IT professional who has at best heard the term, but never really tried to delve further. Sadly by the time the average internet dweller hears of RSS, their mind is already so ingrained in the "usual" browsing experience that anything that is out of the ordinary feels instinctively wrong, even if it clearly has multiple merits.
Re:Tailscale didn't stop the Hugging Face intrusion on Friday July 31, 2026 @05:46PM (#49128894)
We'll get wide dynamic credentials support right after full IPv6 adoption.
The fact nothing has changed regarding their non-existent support within a year just shows where their priorities lie. And I will make the bold assumption that this situation will be unchanged after exactly one year.

Sounds like a nice idea right up till the moment you conceptualize the possible security nightmare scenarios.
Re:Ubuntu 26.04 Ends 46 Years of Silent sudo Passwords on Saturday March 21, 2026 @01:08PM (#47468904)
Stop trying to fix what is not broken. If people have issues with latency or typing then the solution is not to "bypass" it.
