Re:European RISC-V Industrial Computing Initiative on Tuesday November 03, 2026 @09:53AM (#50352754)
Little unclear.

Is this supposed to be the hardware to replace a PLC?

Or just another small form factor PC for industry, but happens to be RISC?

Nice.

Thank You for this. Will be looking into using.

Re:Nvidia – open-source auto-ontology on Tuesday November 03, 2026 @09:41AM (#50352588)
Typical marketing blocks in a power point. Not everything is AI slop, anymore than marketing has been 'slop'.

What? now I can't draw boxes and arrows without it being slop?

Re:Nvidia – open-source auto-ontology on Tuesday November 03, 2026 @09:40AM (#50352569)
I've used the word "Gate" in this context.

People are really seeing 'AI' in everything now. You can't tell.

Humans are now hallucinating what is, or is not, AI.

? What? Is someone already talking a bailout before the bubble has even burst?

If they know it will burst, then maybe prevent the bubble in the first place.

Re:StackOverflow now gets fewer than 1000 questions a month on Thursday October 29, 2026 @12:24PM (#50291614)
When StackOverflow is gone, what will AI train on? That is the problem, what will the next generation of AI, a decade from now, be able to learn from?

Nothing, unless it becomes able to read documents, try things, and come up with best practices all on its own.

Re:Switzerland. Block by block. At 1:1 scale on Monday October 26, 2026 @01:49PM (#50247921)
You got me. Humans never use clear short bullet points.
Re:Switzerland. Block by block. At 1:1 scale on Monday October 26, 2026 @08:28AM (#50242517)
trivial .

Can't tell if you are being sarcastic?

Re:Switzerland. Block by block. At 1:1 scale on Monday October 26, 2026 @08:25AM (#50242484)
AI generated web sites don't magically appear out of the ether.

Just like someone had to grow the potato.

Someone had to 'use' the AI to 'do something'.

The AI just cut out some steps, -> Just Like the Plow did.

Re:Switzerland. Block by block. At 1:1 scale on Monday October 26, 2026 @08:22AM (#50242452)
Everyone is complaining that the web site was made by AI?

Why? It looks like a hundred other web sites. The text isn't different from any other generic sales copy that humans have been doing for ever.

People are so paranoid about AI slop, that they see it everywhere, even if it was just a human. You can't tell.

Re:Switzerland. Block by block. At 1:1 scale on Monday October 26, 2026 @08:19AM (#50242410)
Think you are missing a couple decades of Minecraft automation. Its been done since the beginning. This is just cool example of taking it to extreme.
Re:The Goose Programming Language on Saturday October 24, 2026 @04:02PM (#50224599)
Looks cool, and well developed. But really, cover pages need some better TL;DR, about the purpose. What is it for? There are a ton of languages out there. What gap is this filling? What is the purpose, the use case. Why do I need to keep reading further?

Edit Man, two posting about Goose back to back. Carmack alone might be enough to read further.

Re:No Signs of AI Payoff Outside the Tech Sector on Saturday October 24, 2026 @03:59PM (#50224559)
13% of all companies, or only those that invested in AI. And if invested, by how much?

is this 13% of leprechauns become elves?

Saw it 2 years ago, when ChatGPT just came out. Was Legit Scary.
Re:The HTML-in-Canvas API origin trial on Friday October 23, 2026 @11:24AM (#50210620)
Ok. Cool and all. But isn't the need for this a hack to begin with? Why isn't there some more unified graphics system by now? When it comes to presentation, the entire industry is fragmented that necessitates these things.
Re:No Need for Retirement When Utopia Is Around the Corner on Friday October 23, 2026 @11:22AM (#50210580)
Utopia or Disaster?

Both options are converging. Which will win?

Seems like we're on a knifes edge, so light em if you got em.

Politicians and CEO's. The processes for both, funnel psychopaths to the top.
Re:C# now beats Rust on WASM size on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @09:30AM (#50180637)
Genuinely curious. What will supplant C#? Surely not Java. And not Python?
Re-watching it, the wires are on the ramp. Part of the support of the loop.
Was this real? I thought some wires were visible?
Bruh. Chicks man. Chicks dig fast cars.
'rogue'. Well, even if security was lacking, the AI did take advantage of the gaps.
Exactly. Almost be better if Dems lost. Now they will be a ignored, and a target for blame, an excuse.
If prison was an option, it would have already happened. They will get away with it. Dems aren't going to be able to break this administration. They will just ignore congress. What will congress do?
Of course, have to be careful. You might get targeted. People posting online are being targeted by official gov agencies now. Freedom of speech is kind of gone now.
"It's illegal in the United States to form or participate in a mob that interrupts worship service"

What if it is a mob of religious worshipers that are participating in the mob?

Re:Navier–Stokes Lost in Translation on Monday October 12, 2026 @10:28AM (#50056957)
And, nobody would correct them? If a programs output is random, what use is it.

Isn't the original point, that natural language isn't sufficient for proofs? Aren't you agreeing now?

A large percentage of Black Mirror episodes have now come true.
Re:Navier–Stokes Lost in Translation on Friday October 09, 2026 @08:51AM (#50019766)
Got to thinking maybe you were still in school and hadn't covered determinism yet. Here is old school stack overflow answer that is short and clear.

The environment does matter. I think in your original objection, you were executing the code in different environments.

https://cs.stackexchange.com/questions/38152/what-is-determi...

And to the point of the original article. Each human interpreting natural language is a new environment. Each brain is a new compiler with different outcomes. Thus the ambiguity. Natural language isn't concrete enough to always have the same result when processed by different humans, or AI.

Exactly this. Deep Seek hasn't caused a lot of knew talk, but it has silenced the talk about slowing down. An absence is harder to notice. But also the news cycle is so fast, its tripping over itself. So who knows.
