They likely made a typo. It reads like they’re trying to contrast the sports.

Yes hockey has CTE’s but it’s a lower rate than US football. Nobody is saying it’s super safe or doesn’t have CTE cases.
You said other sports are worse than football.

They aren’t. I can tell you offhand soccer and hockey both have lower rates of CTE’s, soccer by a significant amount. You shouldn’t correct people and tell them to go research things you haven’t even looked up yourself.

The concussion rate in American football (especially pre-NFL) is significantly higher than soccer’s and as the other commenter said, soccer orgs have been addressing it (way better than the NFL has) for a long time. It’s also more preventable in a way it simply isn’t in American football.
They don’t even compare tbh

Skiing becomes incredibly dangerous once you get into like…your 40s and beyond unless you have been doing it pretty consistently your whole life. And even then it’s still very dangerous. High speeds, downhill, crashes are serious.

Tackle football is basically the only sport my kids are not allowed to play. I don’t talk about it because I don’t want it to become something forbidden and therefore cool, but if they naturally find their way there and start getting pushy about it, it’s one of the few things I’m prepared to put my foot down about with no compromise.

All we’re doing is adding another layer between us and the information. Google flash is still pulling on the same poor information. But it’s not as good at discerning what is useful and what is not as we are (people going way too far out on a limb outside of their domain expertise not withstanding, which is another part of the problem and why this stuff can be dangerous)

There are a lot of things we didn’t have when we were younger that are far more necessary today than they were then.

The fact that it has a yard at all is something. Countless people never have one in their lives. Plus it’s a perk not a necessity.

You trust other countries to behave like this out of the goodness of their hearts or something?
If China’s selfish behavior = more open LLM tools and greater ability to run them at home, I’ll gladly take it over the US frontier labs’ druthers, which is a restricted/closed shop we rent from.

This feels like just another variation of “it’s not the tool it’s the user,” which is too frequently leveraged during any discussion about AI. It makes it impossible to honestly assess the quality of the tool. You can always just say “people are doing it wrong.”

You’re comparing 1 billion people doing bleeding edge gaming to LLM usage. Feels a bit like your thumb is on the scale here. Even under lower load GPU’s do in fact use a lot of power, as evidence by the massive power buildouts that we are seeing across multiple countries.

Yes Silicon Valley gives things away to build a high DAU count before the squeeze we’ve seen it for almost 2 decades now. That tells us nothing of the longterm health of their business.

I understand you’re being a bit overdramatic to make a point, but no, Signal and Facebook messenger are not the same levels of secure for the user. That’s not the same as “trust them wholly,” but surely you understand they are on very different ends of the spectrum.
