You may enjoy the game The Witness. The entire game is basically built around inducing that feeling.

I find myself impressed every time I look and find that the Roblox userbase has grown by another zillion and yet nobody I know has heard of it. Filter bubbles are uncanny when you notice them.
I guess this is what's meant by "antifragile" -- not merely durable in the sense of "resistant to stresses", but actively improved by exposure to stress.

Clever! I like it.

That Asimov quote is actually pretty damned close to reality. Why is that exchange, of all things, sitting beside Neville "Peace for our times" Chamberlain?
I can only assume they were being sarcastic.
MS is an autoimmune disorder. Claiming that you could voluntarily give yourself the condition through counterproductive meditation is emblematic of the general mystic nonsense of yogiism. You'll never be able to levitate, either.
TTS, STT?
Your comment reminds me of the first half of this essay on Slate Star Codex, up to the comment about Las Vegas:

You are of course entirely right. It may be worthwhile to email Siskind or Pearlmutter on the subject. I believe Siskind has a tradition of naming things after brutal dictators, so I imagine it's liable to not amount to much.

Might as well name your VR SDK Holodomor.

Sorry, what?

Even the supreme court of the United States of 'but muh free speech' America has struck down the notion of threats of violence being a form of protected speech.

Also, where in sweet jesus do you come from that threats of horrific violence--anything short of aggravated assault--is COMPLETELY above-board?

If you use this language with your coworkers, you are liable to be fired. If you use this language with your subordinates, you are liable to be fired and charged with harassment. If you use this language to a server at a restaurant, you are liable to be expelled from the property.

Notably, if you use this language on Hacker News, your account will get thrown directly into the Sun.

This language is not tolerable, and it is absolutely not harmless (want citations?).

A huge amount of user-facing software is glacially slow, and not for any particular reason other than indifference.

Re:Diminishing returns of static typing on Monday October 02, 2017 @06:15PM (#15388424)
They emphatically do not. Ignoring types doesn't give you a type system "for free"; much the same way that building a shelf doesn't make you a librarian.
Taxes?

I would strongly recommend the XPS 15 9560 over it, if you don't need it to be able to convert it to a tablet.

More performant, cheaper, better screen.

Wizards of the Coast was bootstrapped from a basement.

Curiously, they're now a wholly owned subsidiary of Hasbro, which was also bootstrapped -- in 1923.

How did I not notice that earlier?

Hence the "Drain the swamp" political rhetoric of the last US election cycle.
