>>>I'd like to see some surveys on how many Americans support abortions in which terms and why, but haven't found any.

Yeah, me too. Anecdotally, most people seem to be fine with first trimester, reluctantly accepting of second trimester, and against third trimester (except where the mother's life is in danger).

Abbott Nutrition has a range of nutritionally complete drinks called Ensure. If you just can't be bothered eating that's probably the best way to go.

No idea how much it costs though.

>>> Those progressive people are generally thinking beings who have morality. They think about things rather than accepting an arbitrary criteria such as whether someone is born or not. For most it is whether the bundle of cells is a sentient being capable of experiencing, something a zygote most certainly is not.

It doesn't seem that way.

Most efforts to legalise abortion are based on the argument 1) that women have a right to do what they want with their own body, or 2) that abortion has social benefits. And since the progressive side of politics is making no real effort to stop abortion after the embryo has become a foetus and developed a nervous system it's probably safe to assume that women's rights and social benefits are far more important to them than whether an foetus is 'sentient being capable of experiencing'.

Not always. A lot of predator species are known to play with their prey.

The Old Reader actually looks really good. If only it had an Android app...

Nah, it wasn't intended to be either.

He assumes religious people reject atheism because of an emotional response to atheists' arguments, so he's trying to provoke the same emotional response in atheists to give them insight into the minds of religious people.

Well I'm accused of being a Bible thumper far more often than I'm accused of being moderate or liberal.

Re:Father of all humankind is 340,000 years old on Friday March 08, 2013 @02:15AM (#5342390)
Bible thumper here.

As science it's pretty interesting.

Because it seems to say that all humanity comes from one father it's also interesting, and I'm sure I'll hear plenty about it on my Facebook feed.

But still, it's not harmonious with a strictly literal interpretation of Genesis, so it's hardly confirmation that the strictly literal interpretation is correct.

I have a UX31E.

The trackpad was atrocious when I first got it, but they rolled out some driver updates and now it's really good.

The keyboard is sub-par but doesn't bother me too much, and the newer Zenbooks have much better keyboards.

Other than that, everything is awesome. In hindsight I would have waited for the UX31As with the better keyboards but still, I'm not disappointed. It's probably one of the best computers I've ever owned.

Would game developers really want to make games for a VM? Don't most big games usually try to squeeze as much out of the hardware as possible? (Genuinely curious... I know next to nothing about the gaming world.)
> I'm not sold on the argument that customers even desire the ability to produce long-form text content on a touch-based device, or that it's ergonomic to do so.

Not with a tablet, but when you've got a touchscreen laptop it feels pretty natural to go between touching controls with your fingers and entering text with the keyboard.

Microsoft was doing that with their consumer software for a while. The biggest issue is that people think the software is out of date as soon as the next year comes along.
Re:Tizen - new Android competitor on Friday January 18, 2013 @05:40AM (#5078062)
Yeah, I agree. That's the reason why I stay away from Samsung phones. In practical terms they're great, but they're shockingly un-aesthetic. In hardware and software.

> Touchwiz is not a bad product, though it adds actually very few to stock experience.

Not anymore, anyway. But TouchWiz added quite a bit before ICS came out. Off the top of my head: a customisable dock bar, resizable widgets, a paginated app menu, the app switcher you get when holding 'home', power saving toggles in the notifications drop down...

Admittedly these days it's just a way for Samsung to put a unified, iPhone-like interface across all of its phones, but in the beginning it added a number of features missing from Android.

I got a Nexus S specifically because I wanted stock Android... but is TouchWiz really that bad? What can you do on stock Android that you can't do on TouchWiz?

Re:Nokia's Low-End Asha Is Outselling Lumia Two to One on Sunday January 13, 2013 @09:38PM (#5053019)
Those little cheap Nokias are great for what they are. I had a Nokia 1800 for a long time and it did its job perfectly: good reception, battery lasted forever, screen was always easy to read, alarm was nice and loud, software was easy enough to use.

I use a Nexus S now and it's probably altered too many of my habits for me to go back, but I still miss how my little cheap Nokia just did its job and did it well.

I am considering switching my Nexus S for a Nexus 7 + cheap Nokia combo though. It seems like it would give me the best of both worlds. We'll see.

It's also good for Yahoo. It encourages employees to stay on campus for longer, so Yahoo gets more value out of them.
