Using yesterday's "rewrite in Javascript just because" meme while simultaneously pushing today's "rewritten in Rust, because why not" is especially genius marketing.
I have a Vision Pro (M2 original). At no point have I ever compared it to a Mac or MacOS. The experience is decidedly iPad/iPadOS like.
Did I miss something?
EDIT: You likely mean going with the M series instead of the A series. Got it.
This sounds like pure insecurity with a sprinkle of Dunning Kruger. Unless I'm missing the joke somewhere? Nurses don't mind needles is the only difference? I must be missing the joke.
Pluto and the modern day understanding of Neanderthals are probably Top 5 learning corrections in my lifetime.
What happens when my ADD riddled brain dumps 500 tasks that are either artifacts of procrastination or a new shiny problem that I want to solve but shouldn't be in this thing?
The gap between 2/2.5 to 3 was a lot longer than any gap between 3 and a theoretical 4.
Training data is filled with shortcuts, conveniences, bugs, hacks, hacks that fix other hacks, hot fixes, patches, mappings that map the hack to hack to a better solution and all types of other surprises.
That's the cost of trying to scale so quickly. You dont filter out the crap.
A nice side effect is that the best way to fix it is more AI.
It's a endless money loop.
Reminds me of the car they'd dress up to look like a Countach, the Fiero.
150mph is the "gentleman's agreement" speed. If a car can do 150 chances are it can do 200.
People have been running public websites off of the back of their ISPs since the 90s. I know a few today that are nothing but a Raspberry PI running Pocketbase.
It scales for the intended audience.
Self hosting doesn't mean you need to build the next AWS.
I'm was tempted to come in here and say "you're holding it wrong." But then I quickly realized that I had to spend weeks changing my behaviors and messing around with devices in order to get it to work correctly.
As someone who's OpSec puts swiss cheese to shame Passkey has been a godsend. My passwords are actually much better because of it.
"But but but China..." or something.
This article reads like it was written by prompting AI for connections between two loosely connected things.
I see this as evidence that last weeks token burn rate wasn’t by accident or due to some “bug.”
I don’t mind the 5 hour window but this is a reminder to not hinge your workflows on any one tool.
Oolama? That plan is more than generous for $20.
Both OpenAI and Anthropic use a lot of casino/slot machine mechanics in their TUIs and Apps so likely intentional.
It better because you’ll need a few of them to run some larger models (I’ll be just as vague citing which models).
I used to teach a CSS to college freshman class a decade and a half ago.
An assignment that I had that they always seemed to enjoy was picking a stadium scoreboard (I initially forced Fenway park but loosened it up in later years) and recreating it responsively exclusively in html markup and hand coded CSS (JS only allowed to pass arrays). Had to go through all 3 major media queries.
That assignment was in week 4 out of 15. 95% of the kids came in with no CSS knowledge at that time.
If you learned CSS through the aforementioned frameworks that abstract it into a mishmash of barely recognizable selector abbreviations I totally understand why you would think that it was complex and unapproachable. But once you understand positioning and the box model selector by selector sky's the limit.
Blame bootstrap for the nature of today's HEADER ROW BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK ROW BLOCK BLOCK ROW state of web design. CSS has very little to do with that.
Edit: sorry for the run on sentences.
Because otherwise you're having online discourse with yourself.
I've never understood this line of thinking...
Are you saying we shouldn't care about the future of affordability and access because at this moment we have seemingly endless access?
Sounds extremely short sighted.
I don't ever remember needing or being advised to cycle it.
It was always start by 'loading' and then cruise at 5g. Of course GNC was filled with sugar filled "delivery" products like Celltech that claimed to forego any need for 'loading'.
The biodiversity in West Africa in general is completely underrated. I mean, Darwin solidified his trajectory in life a few short days after the Beagle anchored off of Cape Verde (a place he initially detested then fell in love with).
I'm hoping that Cape Verde's World Cup success story translates to more eye balls on stories like this (with the mere mention of the country landing it in search results). Which means more attention, money and research to West Africa's relatively fragile but diverse ecosystem.
Congrats man. I've been in edtech for the last 15 years. I was working on something similar (socratic method, 1:1 LLM <-> student, skills based) but joined a company and had to shelve it due to a non-compete.
You've picked one hell of a time to enter the K12 market. 1:1 device backlash, AI tool scrutiny hightening, teacher exhaustion, no recovery in sight for the recent funding cliff.
Your pilot model is the way to go. My favorite tools all grew out of that model. Stay patient, listen to the early users, encourage them to spread the word. Dont' be above grinding it out at a table at some of the smaller regional educaitonal confreneces.
Sounds like you're already doing this but take IXL head on. They are ripe for the picking.
Good luck!
This is where treating these smaller models more like parts in a purpose built appliance ultimately benefits us.
tldr; continue to cede ground on the slippery slope.
did i get that right?
The job description touts investment from some members of the "PayPal Mafia." For some odd reason that fact that and the SAT requirement combine to make this whole thing feel kind of normal.
Apple sold over 500k (the last reported number) of Apple Vision Pros and they had/have a built in ecosystem and known developer tools.
It's been considered by all measures a flop. (I have one and love it).
Snapchat has a 2nd rate social media platform after a new audience, they already failed with hardware once, they lost all momentrum relative to their geo spatial ad filters and Lens make app (blew up during COVID).
I dont know convinces anyone that they are due for an Apple like moment in AR at $2k+ per glasses.
This is why VCs/PEs tend to not like founders.
I prefer Codex’s depth and guidance but prefer Claude’s execution because it’s more transparent.
I use both daily. I’m the intermediary though.
