Re:Why payment fees matter more than you think on Tuesday March 03, 2026 @04:57PM (#47239634)
In russia there is СБП (translated as FPS = "fast payment system") using the same mechanism, also free for individuals and relatively cheap for businesses
Even the cheap and fast gemini-3-flash answers correctly. Post is clickbait

$36/mo for 2/4/50 VPS without public IP... Ok, I get the idea that the service is for non-regular use, but I think even $0.005 per hour ($3.6/mo) of suspended state is too expensive. The same config in Hetzner is just $4.09/mo for 24/7 working VPS with public IPv4 address

A textbook that you can NOT hold a conversation with and must investigate all problems by yourself, this is the way I've learned programming when books were made of paper and compilers were distributed with CDs.

Moreover, the most hilarious thing here is that Turnstile is easily bypassed by "patchright" (patched playwright runtime) + xvfb + good residential IP pool. So it's hurting real users and not protecting against bots.
TLS works when app is installed somewhere else, but not in browser itself. Browser actually handles TLS termination.
Don't be rude. "Real person" here might live in any country of the world.

And also, why extension for vpn? I live in country where almost everybody uses vpn just to watch YouTube and read twitter, and none of my friends uses some strange extensions. There are open source software for that - from real vpn like wireguard, to proxy software like nekoray/v2raytun. Browser extension is the last thing I would install to be private.

Re:My productivity app is a never-ending .txt file (2020) on Thursday December 11, 2025 @04:20PM (#46237319)
I use tasks.org android app (I use my smartphone for everything (except programming or server administration) as I love cellphones and portability)

Tasks.org has cool filter system, which alongside it's widget makes me list of everything that's important to me just on home screen of my smartphone. For example, I can make a filter "tasks starting today, priority yellow or higher, lists "personal" or "projects", sorr by due date). And make corresponding widget.

Samsung OneUI has widget carousel feature, so I make multiple widgets with different filters and switch by swiping. Very convinent.

Also tasks.org support syncing to nextcloud, but I keep it disabled due to tons of bugs in nextcloud itself.

I make separate list for everything not important at current period of my life, so I can review it later (usually once a week or once a month, my life is very unstable and unpredictable to tell more exactly)

I use this for about a year, so it's not so well tested workflow, but for now it works better than other variants I tried.

Re:Tuxedo Computers Cancels Snapdragon X1 Linux Laptop on Saturday November 22, 2025 @02:45AM (#46012952)
There used to be some laptops like Toshiba ac100, actually an almost unusable device even for simple tasks.
Agents are really good at writing unit tests, but only if you clarify exactly WHAT should be tested. Otherwise they generate slop which passes, but don't catch any bugs nor regression.
Re:In Praise of RSS and Controlled Feeds of Information on Friday October 03, 2025 @10:08AM (#45463209)
I think this post is the best place to "promote" my open-source pet project

It converts any dynamic website to rss feed

It's self-hosted and stateless

https://github.com/Egor3f/rssalchemy

It's however not in active development state, but if there will be some pull requests I'll review them, so it's not abandoned

Demo page is not working now, but if there will be some activity, I'll bring it back up
