30% on sales up to 10 million, 25% on additional sales up to $50 million, 20% on sales above that.

We went to school together :) I would agree with Prof Sayood's "Signals and Systems" was a great class. I would agree that many TAs, including myself when I was a TA, were confused and/or overwhelmed.

I've been in some good coordinating calls for widespread incidents. Many unique individuals (15+) talked in a ten minute period, sharing context on what their teams were seeing, what re-meditations had worked for them, etc..
Some EVs start with capacity “gated off” to limit the depth of early cycles and provide a more graceful degradation.
Decline of the stay at home mom. Both parents tired from work means less quality attention, less consistent meals, etc..
Re:Building Game Prototypes with LÖVE on Tuesday December 31, 2024 @06:08PM (#42562550)
I gave this LOVE framework a try a couple years ago, but was dissuaded by the amount of spritework needed for my game. But looking at your prototype games here, they look pretty good and playable as is.

More fascism = less peripheral vision
Re:FTC's rule banning fake online reviews goes into effect on Wednesday October 23, 2024 @04:40PM (#41929091)
I would love a restaurant review site that could tell you “your brother’s friend from college has been here once and liked it”.

The union could hold shares in a trust, pledging not to sell. Then vote with the shares, and distribute any dividends through to the workers.
Re:Smart TVs Are Watching You on Saturday September 28, 2024 @04:00PM (#41682609)
A 32" computer monitor is awful similar to a dumb TV from 20 years back. Projectors too.
Re:Storm Get a Wikipedia-like report on your topic on Tuesday September 17, 2024 @04:52PM (#41572608)
Seems a promising approach. Feedback at the bottom is (?) missing a submit button. Article was fine, but veered into overly verbose with redundant sections. A simplification pass, even on the outline, could help.
Re:Algorithmic Wage Discrimination on Wednesday September 11, 2024 @04:39PM (#41515165)
Wait staff paid directly by customers is different from payments processed opaquely by the employer. Consider if a server got paid tips based only on the number of customer smiles detected by the restaurant security cameras.
For 121, I ratio 130:80, then because I started ten under I subtract half that at the end. So about 75.
It could be the guy was fine, and then something happened (bad case of long COVID?) and he’s left with the authority but not the discernment.
I’m seeing a lot of meh products that take like 4 units of effort to integrate. I think multiple LLMs, deeply integrated into a cohesive product with 100+ effort units, that can be great. An AI that’s familiar with the use of every settings menu on windows would be awesome

Passive listening vs. Active creation. Also I supplemented my classes with doodle breaks.
Re:Microsoft "doubling down" on cybersecurity on Saturday April 27, 2024 @03:40PM (#40182792)
I’ve heard this means: teams get several months to work on just security. A lot of the work is cleaning up internal tools, secrets in deployment pipelines, that kind of work.
Some can be constructed with varying levels of success. Default Golly comes with an “infinite novelty” scenario; it’s worth checking out for a couple hours.
Re:Daniel Dennett (1942-2024) on Friday April 19, 2024 @12:13PM (#40088612)
Breaks down to: (1) build trust with your people, then (2) give them autonomy to guide their own work. The inverse of "Seeing Like a State".
Re:I setup my terminal for max productivity on Sunday April 14, 2024 @12:47PM (#40032427)
I'm a fan of: ``` alias editrc="vi ~/.zshrc && source ~/.zshrc" ``` Which waits until you exit to reload, saving you a command.
Re:Twitter's pivot to x.com is a gift to phishers on Wednesday April 10, 2024 @09:28PM (#39997526)
SpaceX employees take the Musk fundraising and spend it well. They have systems in place to minimize his technical interference.
Using VFX for realistic scenes is more involved. VFX requires more expertise to do convincingly and realistically, in the thousands of hours of experience. More involved scenes require multiple professionals. The tooling and assets costs more. An inexperienced person, in a hundred hours of effort, can put out 10ish realistic scenes with leading edge AI tools, when previously they could do 0.

This is like regulating handguns differently from compound bows. Both are lethal weapons, but the bow requires hours of training to use effectively, and is more difficult to carry discreetly. The combination of ease, convenience, and accessibility necessitates new regulation.

This being said, AI for video is an incredibly promising technology, and I look forward to watching the TV shows and movies generated with AI-powered tooling.

Re:New York medical school eliminates tuition after $1B gift on Monday February 26, 2024 @05:36PM (#39517592)
Doctors who graduate without loans have more leverage when deciding their next position. They can immediately go for research or volunteer work that otherwise wouldn’t recoup their costs.
Re:Pleasures by Aldous Huxley (1920) on Sunday February 25, 2024 @06:41PM (#39506138)
We see clearly the flaws around us, but it’s non-obvious that {person} 400 years ago was flawed and lazy as well. Or sick with illness for 15 years, and we vaccinate those today.
Re:Bob Moore, Who Founded Bob's Red Mill, Is Dead at 94 on Wednesday February 14, 2024 @03:16PM (#39374712)
Fasting is less "do this for ritual purity" and more "this is an exercise for building self control" like weightlifting is an practice for building physical strength.

Some religious diets are perpetual, like "no pork ever". Orthodox fasting is "eat everything half of the year" and then practice self control by abstaining from the meat/wine/oil/dairy the other half.

Re:We migrated our PostgreSQL database with 11 seconds downtime on Thursday January 18, 2024 @07:20PM (#39049947)
The risk is hiring a team of ineffective sysadmins, especially if your organization can’t assess sysadmin competence.
