In good faith? In what context? When? Who?

Its a company, it sells a product, people use it.

Its not just radio astronomy, its also optical.

And no i don't think so. Radio astronomies research results are fundamental for all of us, our understanding and for modern technology.

This makes it nescsaary that you have to send something away out of earth. Is Spacex sponsoring this type of research? No. So who has the researcher go to? To someone with money.

Yepp. But if you look were Starlink is available, thats true for sure for a few more from the current 10 Million customers.

So is it worth it for a handfull of people on our planet vs. destroying our atmoshpere and removing access to our space?

I don't think so.

Maybe but people already had plenty of internet before Starlink.

Everyone i know who is using starlink doesn't use starlink because htey need starlink for internet.

So because 10 Million people want to have internet, 8 Billion people no longer get acccess to that resource?

That sounds like a nice attitude from you.

Did you care about the writing style of Rex Edison before and now you are disappointed?

That page is not the New Yorker.

And don't get me wrong, but the writing of normal newspaper became shit through the internet not due to claude. You have the clickbait header, than you have the subtext which repeats the clickbait header, then you had the first paragraph which repeats the subheader, than you had the second paragraph giving you some random 'background infos' and then you got the gist of the story in the 3 or 4th paragraph.

When Anthropic gave out some usage, I was able to do a lot more and it felt differently than when you always have to think about limits.

I now spend $90 this month and do even more now (privat). It might really be a big bias of these people either not spending any time on it or just doing very small experiments and immediadly being put of by some random issue.

Not even in principle. Like how often you had to fight a product manager to do this or that.

"Does that code work?" "yes" "so lets ship it" "but its not good" "but it works right?"

Lots of chatter online, i have seen a few videos on this tpic on YT.

https://www.hays-china.cn/en/press-release/content/%E4%B8%AD...

I'm pretty sure we reached peak software developer jobs due to ai.

The market is already collapsing in China and India.

So they still might do but in parallel the software engineering market in china and india is collapsing.
The code I have seen and see still, started shitty.
Like the 0.1% we do is your counter example?

But lets be fair, if an expert would use AI today to build something with this, I would feel a lot more confident than not doing this.

I would start with the base architecture and add all the guardrails for a distributed system, i might even go so far to leverage the math skills of a frontier model like fable or astra. I would for sure have the proper budget for using Fable/Astra.

I have seen so much production code with garbage code and massive bugs, the industry doesn't care for 'real'.
Its a tweet of someone who got rich at meta. Their moral compas is between their paycheck and the next paycheck.

I'm on hn for 15 years, tbh as someone else said that to you already: thats not what hn is. At least I wouldn't even expect your two examples on hn.

I would expect them on reddit, kickstarter or hackaday.

Apple always gets quite a lot of tracktion on hn (i don't like it but happens evertime). But lenovo? Framework for sure.

Re:Ask HN: Can we please limit the AI news flood? on Friday September 11, 2026 @09:46AM (#49658358)
Tbh if you are long enough on hn, quite a lot of stuff gets repeated over and over.

AI gets 'that much' tracktion because it is right now the fastest changing technology we have and with the biggest impact day-to-day for a lot of people on hn.

The CVEs from the last few month? Normal topic for hn, it became an AI toopic because AI found them.

My personal experience diaagrees.

The Opus moment in November felt very different but despite that, a handful things did not woork well with Opus in November and I tried them last week and they now just work.

In parallel GPT-6 and Fable 5.1 show significant skill improvements in 3D modeling and Astra shows significant progress in computer use.

Do we live in a parallel universe? I mean it, this week was crazy from a progress point of view.

Re:Ask HN: Can we please limit the AI news flood? on Friday September 11, 2026 @09:38AM (#49658243)
So instead of the most craziest technology advantage in our lifetime, you want to see more products?

Like a lenovo laptop with a technology which is available for a bit and another product which you can pre-order?

Re:Claude is no longer available for minors on Friday September 11, 2026 @09:35AM (#49658175)
What do you think is written on my credit card and my bill from Anthropic?

Do you really think most people use fake data on a paid service? I don't think so.

Re:Astra for Coding: Why Are We Doing This Again? on Friday September 11, 2026 @06:53AM (#49656265)
With this progress, every few month there is a new R&D phase because you need to adjust to the new way of interacting with them.

We also still haven't build everything we expect to happen. Like a proper opensource agent platform, agentic layer etc.

Every week there are new research results from frontierlabs.

Re:Astra for Coding: Why Are We Doing This Again? on Friday September 11, 2026 @02:46AM (#49654393)
"But for how much more Fable costs, for how much more Astra costs, I do not feel like the results are there."

we are in the middle of the beginning. Its just a weird take to talk about the newest model like this while we are still in a R&D phase.

And these points don't matter if you let it search and analyse a bug, for example, or if you have good harness and a good architecture and let it do small PRs or if you do stuff no one needs to read (yes a software engineer also needs tools)

Just switch back and wait a little bit?

But the old insulin is a lot harder to manage and we know why the 'normal' insulin became so expensive. Greed
Re:Apple Watch Ultra 4 on Thursday September 10, 2026 @12:26PM (#49646394)
Yes but these watches are hand made from clock makers and a homage to real craftmanship done mostly by human hands, well paid, well educated.

And these companies are old, they were leading in chainging the world.

Apple let them build in china from students and others for very little money with very high margin.

Rolex for example is a foundation.

The one mentioned in the article has an outside unit.

And for the normal ones, at least they are leveraging outside temperature parts of the time while everything else stays at 1 in 1 out.

Especially when Google and co tells you that they can bill by the second.

I do not own a hyperscaler account as a private person and will never do, the financial risk is too high even IF the support will swift it away.

Re:iPhone Duo on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @03:39PM (#49632951)
You can still critisis it and not just accept free advertising from apple on hn.
Re:Apple Watch Ultra 4 on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @03:31PM (#49632803)
This is not an apple fan club. Someone likes it and comments, i use it to bring up a comment like this.

Just don't deflect.

Btw. i'm from a country with a social system soooo

Josh Wilkerson

And it wasn't just a case.

And i'm not allowed to reference this?

I mean i can reference a lot of other things which are still happenin in the USA or do you know want to argue that united states of america takes good care of its people?
