Re:Majority of US teens have lost trust in Big Tech on Thursday January 30, 2025 @08:48AM (#42877597)
This is normal in business. Now that tech dominates they use that market position to setup monopolies. If we had functional anti-trust laws then it wouldn't feel so dire. Allowing monopolies in a capitalist system is the worst economic policy since socialism.

Manufacturing consent is easier than ever. Look at how many Americans feel that immigrants are mostly violent criminals.
The only constant in this universe is "change" so what ideology can be more illogical than one that rejects change? We are about to learn this lesson again as a society.

Human suffering is the US conservative platform :)

But they are not illegal. That is dehumanizing.

The winner of this election tried to overthrow the government. You are delusional.

Asylum seekers are here legally.

Imagine how dumb the average person is. Half of them are even dumber than that. Less than half voted for Donald Trump!

Psychology has always been considered a soft science.

The anti-trust case isn't about Google's LLM business.

I love it when the top comments on a hacker news thread is justifying monopolies. Fuck economics right?

Any reasonably fair news coverage is considered left wing now-a-days.

Re:OpenTofu Response to HashiCorp's Cease and Desist Letter on Thursday April 11, 2024 @12:50PM (#40004243)
Weird strategy from Hashicorp. The amount of code that they claimed was infringed is tiny. And from what I can tell, is not algorithmically significant. It's such small ball.
How do you lower crime?
Neither did Kuwait. Canada, however, did have an increase. Global rates overall did increase.
We didn't forget that in 2020. An increase in crime is a pretty normal side effect of a global pandemic. We are lucky that it stayed so tame despite police not doing their jobs because they are pissy about having some accountability.
What a convenient way to dismiss all data.
Yes so stop freaking out over relatively low crime. Remember the lessons from that time.
How much more would you pay?
Sure sure but when it turns out 90% of crime is from 11 people it stops making sense to pass laws punishing all people of a certain class and/or giving police incredible amounts of power with little or no oversight.
These charts really show how overblown the murder/car theft issues are now. Higher than pre-pandemic yes, but still relatively low.
Re:Devin, the First AI Software Engineer on Thursday March 14, 2024 @12:50PM (#39706234)
That 13.68% is given with no context. Which issues, specifically did Devin solve? Any 3rd party verification?
Re:Social Media First Amendment Cases on Tuesday February 27, 2024 @03:09PM (#39529093)
Science is biased against conservatives. Literature is biased against conservatives. Logic is biased against conservatives.
