Glenda is super cute but did you try to use Plan9? I give it a small try last year and well... GNU/Linux is mainstream, FreeBSD is a really good derivative of Unix too, OpenBSD is great when we want to have a secure OS... NetBSD would probably run on my toaster... But Plan9? It have a cute mascot.

Oh and I really like its name and the "Plan 9 from User Space" thing, especially after having seen the fabulous movie! But I think of it only as a cool thing to know, never seriously think about using it in place of a GNU/Linux or a *BSD. (same thing for Open Solaris too in fact)

I almost always eat 100% of what I cook and put on my plate. After reading this article it struck me that some people, or even a majority of people, might not does the same. Do you throw away a significant amount of your food?

Of course I live alone and most of the time I cook what I bought in more than one meal... But what I put in my plate always goes in my stomach. How could it be otherwise? But if not, why bother with a picture of what have been left in the plate!

Bépo keyboard layout is missing! Okay maybe it's because it's optimized for writing in French... But after a false start and a painful first month I'm really happy to have made the transition from the qwerty/azerty world.

The first month was really frustrating, especially at work or when using IM but I'm glad I kept using it because for now, a few months after, it's a pleasure to have every keys always right next to one of my finger and never having to move my hands anymore.

Same thing for me. I just got my CS master degree and now I want to discover the world with only my bike, my laptop and my reflex camera, a few month to a couple of years at the same place...

But I'm worried by the first move. Where I live I got a lot of job opportunity but I don't know if I will be able to find a job in another country quickly enough and it doesn't work very well remotely.

I love OpenBSD's philosophy and documentation and enjoyed testing FreeBSD but I always return to Arch for my desktop and laptop and Debian for my servers. Except for two project that are on my todo list for years but never been completed: a router firewall using OpenBSD (with the wonderful PF) and a NTP server using FreeBSD and a GPS with time pulse signal.

I hope someday I will give them the time because I feel that I could have a lot of fun with that.

Arch user here. The great thing with a rolling release is that when something breaks there is usually a lot of people trying to solve the exact same problem at the same time. I think I learn a lot in problem solving because of that since I switch to Arch! And now every bug is a fun thing that almost never last long, you must be quick if you want to be the first to write the patch who will solve it!

I've got dedicated servers from the french companies OVH and Online.net (previously known as Dedibox) since four years. The price is cheap including unlimited free reinstalls and a rescue mode. The service is great IMHO. I've also had one server from LeaseWeb but they are more expensive and comes with less services.

I'm interested in cloud hosting like Amazon EC2 or VPS like SliceHost, especially because I want to have my servers in more than only one country but so far all the solutions I found were not as great and/or cheap than the ones I use.
