Re:Ask HN: How to Stop Caring (Professionally)? on Sunday October 02, 2022 @03:36PM (#33059402)
Easy, take a note of each and every time management and others treat you like crap and see you as a tool to their objectives.

Then imagine that you disappear one day and think how quickly they will replace you.

Noone will cry for you except a couple of friends and your family. The rest will be like "he was an ok guy, whats for lunch"

Re:Ask HN: Earplugs as Powerful as Fingers? on Saturday September 10, 2022 @01:52PM (#32792878)
Any foam earplugs with rating above 30dB will give you a bit of peace.

For normal life when you want to hear things around you but less annoying get Etymotic ER20 musicians earplugs.

If you want in-ear-monitors get Etymotic ER2SE or ER2XR. With Comply p100 eartips they will give you 35dB noise reduction easily and you can enjoy glorious sound quality.

Comply p100 are also compatible with ER20 earplugs so these can be made more comfortable.

Hang in there, there are solutions, you are not alone in this.

Samsung A52s 5g. There is a variant with 8GB ram / 256GB storage with dual sim support. Enough features, headphone jack and 2 days battery life easily. A53 is worse.

1. This is part of russian interview process. You are in debt to them that they even invited you for an interview. Seeing you fail makes some dumb interviewers happy. Don't fall for this.

2. Learn these stupid interview questions. Loads of books on this subject.

3. Data science is falling everywhere plus on your first ds job you will most likely just do data cleaning. So rather come up with some sort of useful data science service that you can offer clients and small companies.

At first he didn't like it but then it grew on him. Damn you Internet! It is all your fault! If only he could go back in time, implement filter and come back nothing would have happened!

Keep calm, dude! Billions of people have jobs they don't like. Keep working, reduce overheads. Once kids dont neet $$$ support you can try and redefine yourself. Meanwhile, be happy that you do have a job.
Clearly the author loved his dog more than his research advisor who supported the author through finance and other things.Glad for him though that it worked out.
