It's using keystrokes inspired by emacs. Ok.
Re:AlpineBSD on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @11:49AM (#50275689)
The impression I get is that NetBSD has just enough code to get it up and running on a machine but there is not enough development and testing to get it to run well on a machine.
Re:Genie 4 on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @05:37AM (#50271046)
What do we need this for?
Re:Dutch government had hacked into Jared Kushner's phone on Friday October 23, 2026 @08:33AM (#50207988)
Why should we be warned. It's pretty much widely known that the entire Trump administration is compromised. That details may be salacious goes without saying.
Re:DuckDB 2.0.0 LTS "Cinnamon Teal" on Thursday October 22, 2026 @04:23AM (#50192693)
I've used it for data migration combined with Jupyter Notebook.

While I'm fully aware of DataFrame, I am more familiar with SQL. So I used Python scripts in Jupyter to load Excel sheets into DuckDB, and then run queries in DuckDB. Eventually I export the data back to Excel or SQL Server.

Not the most efficient way to do this I know, but it works for me.

Re:PHP 8.2.35 on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @09:59AM (#50181084)
It says "3 days ago". The tag is 2 days old.

I assume it just got pushed?

How do you deal with end users wanting to edit their content? They have no clue what Markdown or Git is.
Re:Wine Ported to OpenBSD on Monday October 19, 2026 @10:51AM (#50153217)
That is awesome. I take it I can't run this with nVidia.
Re:Grace Hopper Celebration Cancelled on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @02:46AM (#50083381)
What's stopping those students from holding an impromptu memorial?

This post is illegible.
Re:European Alternatives on Sunday October 11, 2026 @05:11AM (#50041195)
I used mailbox.org briefly but was very heavily disappointed in it. Canceled my account and moved to Proton.
Same here. Firefox on Windows 11 looks awful. Edge looks better (I don't use Edge)
Re:Calling It Quits on ServerFault on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @01:20AM (#49988548)
People may be dismissive of Serverfault and the other sites but pretty much all LLMs are trained on them.
'Force Majeure' is a good way to describe their incompetence.

You could, you know, pull the plug.

Re:Rust Is Tier-1 Language at Microsoft on Thursday September 10, 2026 @11:43AM (#49645687)
Agreed but I think you need to pry Visual Studio from VB.NET developers' cold dead hands.
Re:iPhone Duo on Thursday September 10, 2026 @01:26AM (#49638763)
$2000? Let me reach into my wallet and pull out the bird flip.
Re:I resigned from Anthropic today on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @01:04AM (#49621266)
And the hype machine continues. I willing to bet that Anthropic asked him to make that post.
Re:Nobody Is Saying Why OpenAI and Anthropic Had Outages on Friday September 04, 2026 @02:11PM (#49568123)
I just assumed it was a routine Cloudflare outage.
Re:The asteroid currently hitting front end web development on Friday September 04, 2026 @06:17AM (#49562662)
From one of the links in the article (https://exploringjs.com/):

Oof that hits hard. I'm not an author or anything like that, but wow.

Re:ChatGPT Is Throwing 404 on Thursday September 03, 2026 @11:39AM (#49551814)
GitHub Copilot itself is up but it is having problems with "Grok Copilot Model Provider". No mention of OpenAI or Claude.

Does this mean that GitHub has its own infrastructure for OpenAI and Claude? And that it distills prompts to Grok?

Re:ChatGPT Is Throwing 404 on Thursday September 03, 2026 @11:31AM (#49551679)
GitHub Copilot cli works fine.
Another one? What happened to the other one that was called ... (quick Google) ... Hello System?
Re:Show HN: My Emacs Zero to IDE Journey on Friday August 28, 2026 @04:00PM (#49483486)
I know there are 0 comments but actually I appreciate your post. I'm a developer on the Windows platform that uses C# and Typescript extensively, so you are definitely in tune with what I'm looking for. I'm also looking to learn Rust, just for the fun of it. Thumbs up.

What I particularly find interesting is the Eglot vs LSP-mode difference.

Re:Clerky Is Joining Stripe on Thursday August 27, 2026 @02:18AM (#49460552)

The section under "User Lisp Directory" seems incomplete. I was expecting a second paragraph.
