My company is very big too but if you want to be a good developer and you are happy with your normal salary increase everyone else gets, people will be happy about it because there is no budget anyway to give you a higher position.

I don't think this is a real issue if you are not wanting to make a lot of money.

Amazon? FB was always a lot more evil.

Amazon just build the best logistics network on the planet and leverages this for their monopoly.

FB pushed fake news and everyting else without consideration as long as it grabs your attention which they then sell.

More like "Oh i remember what you roughly want, i rememeber basic steps of reaching it just not details, lets generate the details" vs. "learning x steps from noise to image".

You make the way of reaching your target faster.

I had a similiar thing with my eye sight: I couldn't believe or accept that my eye sight got really bad in a short period of time (i was 15).

But i did compensate for 5 diopter relativly good.

I did learn plenty of that research, made me more aware of eye sight and because i was very young, hard to say that it was obvious to just accept it at that time.

In hindsight my school grades were definitly worste than they had to be...

And regarding noise: We have a wonderful big lake here in germany and small mountains around it, you can hear the autobahn (going around it) everywhere and we really do a shitty job with handling car noise. Even on the small mountain or in the nature area you hear cars.

I definitly will move out of the city in the next few years and in an area which does not have a autobahn close by. I'm happy driving 30-60 minutes to the autobahn.

What is your statement?
