Agree. Hollywood and Wallstreet are great examples. Also the founders of Google and Facebook. It's no coincidence. Though I'm not sure this is nepotism as much as it is organized clan behavior.

I think Indians are even more so but there it's about caste and not just being Indian.

Humans are weird.

Hansel?
Ah yes, the invisible boogieman, Russian online trolls, the reason we should all give up our rights, "for your safety". "but think of the children".
GDP is actually the easiest, most apples-to-aples thing to compare, I don't know why you're saying it's too complex. And the graph clearly shows the EU falling behind the US, both in nominal $ and in GDP per capita.

Here's another source. https://statisticstimes.com/economy/united-states-vs-eu-econ...

>oh the utter ignorance of iFanboys...

Indeed it's crazy how Apple fanboys can be so brainwashed to think that anti-consumer and anti-repair designs are the only way their products could ever work, and they'll die on that hill with their last breath.

Behold exabit A: Samsung Galaxy Xcover6 Pro[1], a smartphone with a swappable battery and removable battery cover (yes, like in the good old days) that's also MIL-STD-810H and IP68 rated and 9,9mm thick.

So it's definitely possible to build water resistant phones with standardized swappable batteries that aren't complete bricks.

The stats were poor (behind the US) even before Brexit
Are those GDP figures inflation adjusted?
I don't get your comment. The police can come break up mass gatherings without consulting with the courts first.
I think you're exaggerating with the Soviet Union comparison. But yeah, the economy and jobs market is pretty stagnant. What's not stagnant is the housing market. We're gonna be like Canada soon.
>Social media platforms like TikTok and Snapchat will face possible shutdowns when they don't crack down on problematic content

Ok, and who defines what exactly is "problematic content"? Let me guess, it's gonna be whatever the government wants silenced.

>"When there is hateful content, content that calls – for example – for revolt, that also calls for killing and burning of cars, they will be required to delete [the content] immediately,"

Aha, but if I invite 100k people to a meeting in the city center next to the parliament building for a peaceful protest, that will be fine and not get removed, right? Right?

You started calling people xenofobic for rasing valid concerns and now you want everyone to drop it?

And which conspiracy theory did I share? I do believe you're delusional.

>It's alarming how comfortable people have become on HN to announce their xenophobia so openly lately

Since when is it xenophobic to not be ok with uncontrolled mass migration?

Do you also leave your house the door unlocked and open for anyone to come in as they please? If you don't, and you lock it, you're xenophobic.

People are ok with immigrants, they don't care what skin color you have, they just don't want uncontrolled illegal immigrants who don't care about integration and adapting to the local culture and value system.

  1. Import people who are not exactly fond of France as cheap labor

  2. Allow people in who are even hate France but just want the economic benefits

  3. Factories/mines etc shut down or go abroad, thus making foreign "temporary" workers who somehow were allowed to stay, go poor and thus, give the excuse leftists need about socioeconomic factors

  4. Regardless of point 3. immigration increases further because we must maintain the progressive multi-kulti façade going and call everyone who disagrees with it racist bigots

  5. End up with massive social welfare fraude and jobless people who can't, won't and don't want to integrate

  6. Somehow plead for even more immigration

  7. Integration systems are too small and failing under the pressure of sheer numbers, real estate prices and rent go brrrr

  8. Enclaves and proto-Detroitesque environments are growing like late stage cancer

  9. Not even all the gaslighting in the world can make those who can think with high resolution, believe "diversity is our strength". Call them racist without proper reason.

  10. Ethnic conflict, religious conflict, cultural unrest ensues and grows, allowing for invasive privacy laws to be set in "for your protection"

  11. Keep open border policies going because otherwise people might call you racist again

  12. Act shocked as rightwing parties grow across the west
>sensitive professions including doctors, journalists, lawyers, judges and MPs would not be legitimate targets

Well gee, ain't that convenient, that the ruling class is exempt from the invasive laws they set. Privacy for me, not for thee.

Hey french people, maybe it's time to get them ol' faithful guillotines out of the mothballs, your ruling class is acting up again.

It's easy because there has never been a greater backlog of junior candidates trying to break into the industry.
>low level doctors (like radiology which is already widely outsourced)

lol, no. In my country, doctors have basically the strongest union possible, they decide who gets in/out and what tools get used so there's no way they'd let their jobs get automated or outsourced away. At best radiologists will use AI tools to improve their work but they'll still be in charge.

My fear is that after a while, just like with people having crashes from leaving autopilot in charge without constant supervision, radiologists will get sloppy/lazy and just rubber-stamp every diagnostic the AI gives them on autopilot, without checking for themselves, and we'll end up with more fake positives/negatives and people's lives ruined.

Hopefully I'm wrong.

I didn't get the point of using a Zune in the latest Guardians movie. Why the product placement for a product that's long discontinued? Microfot won't make any money if people go on ebay and buy a used Zune out of nostalgia. Or it wasn't a product placement after all?

Indeed. To "test" the security as a linux user, I dare you to curl/wget some random sh script and run it as root.

Damn, you're making me fee lonelier. Can't get any human friends while mfs on HN already have raven friends.

When you have a 100+ IQ ape brain and get beaten by birds, hilarious.
The truth is they had to shut down since their life was made ever increasingly harder, since Bulgarian authorities started going strong after piracy websites in general after the US and the big movie and games studios started putting pressure on Bulgaria. Same thing happened in Romania a couple of years earlier where the domain of the Filesit torrent tracker was seized.

Check US Special 301 report, Romania and Bulgaria were on the US naughty list, and had travel warnings issued for them, despite being safer countries than the US and important NATO members in the region, with the reason given in that report that US entertainment piracy is rampant in the region lol.

The big US movie studios cand leverage the US gov influence to put pressure on other countries to crack down on piracy. That's how strong they are.

Maybe your vista install was messed up. Did you compare fresh vista vs fresh 7 for this?
Pretty much yeah. The US is quite strong at throwing its weight around its areas of influence to enforce laws favorable to their corporations, otherwise they put you on the naughty list (US Special 301 report) and you could start seeing trade restrictions come your way. It's how they managed to get RARBG taken down all they way in Bulgaria.
>Windows 7 not only used fewer resources than Vista

Windows 7 didn't use less resources than Vista, it was virtually the same, it's just that PCs have gotten miles faster in the timespan between Vista and 7 and people thought it was the OS that improved.

7 was not that much different from Vista, the problem was that When Vista launched, most people still had Windows 9/XP level hardware and that's what most PC retailers were still selling as well, while Vista demanded more as it was a complete overhaul from Windows XP/9.

7 didn't improve much performance wise, it's just that by that time people had already upgraded to much better hardware and they felt a performance improvement.

By most metrics, 7 was basically a Vista Service Pack, renamed to distance itself from the bad press Vista got, but it was more or less Vista under the hood.

Good phone cameras rely on a bunch of proprietary blobs for the sensor color science which are considered trade secrets and kept close to the chest when licensed for $$$.

Fairphone could invest in rolling their own open color science but I doubt they have the money to do it and come anywhere near what Apple or the other big Android makers are doing.

Looks like if you want open devices running FOSS you'll have to live with shit camera quality, for now.

Show on the doll where my comment touched you.
>Just fucking lovely!

Well I'll be damned, Max Verstappen is on HN.

Yeah, I'd love to see the day when I could build iOS apps on Windows and on Linux, just like I can for Android.
