Recently discovered cloud run and it's absolutely amazing. I will be using it for as much as possible going forward. Cheap, easy, scaling. For a crud app it does everything you could ever want.

App engine isn't going anywhere. Don't be so dramatic.
You make it sound like it a marriage or something. If you don't like it you can always leave. That's worked for me so far.
Re:Will Node.js Forever Be the Sluggish Golang? on Thursday February 21, 2019 @06:43PM (#19221751)
This is great! I'm bootstrapping an app now and I think I will give this a try. I hope the pub sub support gets added soon.
Re:You probably don't need a single-page app on Monday February 18, 2019 @01:41AM (#19188996)
I don't get it. SPAs are easy to make and have way more pros than cons.
I have plenty of time, but the games these days are awful and are purely centered around siphoning as much money out of the consumer as possible. It's quite unpleasant. I'm stuck playing older games because of this.
Re:Ask HN: Go-to web stack today? on Saturday January 05, 2019 @07:09PM (#18835307)
React in the front, Node in the back (or Golang if you need extra performance), postgres for DB.
Re:Show HN: Jetpack – Webpack made more convenient on Thursday January 03, 2019 @06:39PM (#18820502)
We already have parcel.js which does all of this really well.
If roads were 20x wider I guarantee traffic would be reduced or damn near eliminated. They just want an excuse to charge people and/or enable the rich to get special transport privileges. Also where do they get off claiming these people are getting this for free? They bought it with their taxes, so to double charge them and exclude the poor is pretty messed up.

Are you seriously hung up on keywords? Also, you are not required to use "let"...

Surprised to see somewhere based in Grants Pass! Could you give me a hint on your salary ranges?

Damn, I shared this with friends and family. Never been so excited...
"Meritocracy is hard to fight."

If think we live in a meritocracy you are delusional.

This looks awesome! I would love to do something like this with my wife. I would be very interested to see how it works out for you after launch.
Re:Ask HN: Is Java worth learning? on Sunday December 24, 2017 @02:28AM (#15998464)
Looks like some people are in denial :P
Re:Ask HN: Is Java worth learning? on Sunday December 24, 2017 @02:02AM (#15998396)
Go will eventually take over the space Java currently occupies, so I would go that route. Java's days are numbered.

Re:Facebook recruiting and Unix systems on Wednesday September 06, 2017 @10:26PM (#15188721)
At least this recruiter wont be as dumb moving forward. It's important as a recruiter to understand what the hell it is you are looking for in a candidate. I personally thought the applicant handled this perfectly.

Re:Google Has Dropped Google Instant Search on Wednesday July 26, 2017 @01:10PM (#14858072)
I loved this feature! This makes me sad. It really shouldn't be a big deal to let people enable it for their own accounts or to just disable it for mobile. I don't see the benefit of just getting rid of it completely.
Re:Yes, Python Is Slow, and I Don’t Care on Thursday May 18, 2017 @03:28PM (#14370311)
Go is just as fast, easy, and clean to write and is leagues faster.
Re:Uber CLI on Thursday February 23, 2017 @08:14PM (#13719892)
Yep!
Agreed, quality over quantity. Plus there are plenty of excellent tools that aren't being actively developed but are still very popular.
