Is this not clear from the term?

"I'm going to go take a nap in bed."

vs

"I fell asleep in a chair."

> after the police pull the mayor over and investigate

I want to live in the fantasy world you have described.

My shell displays the current path, how is that invisible?
Re:Patrick Stewart has died on Thursday October 29, 2026 @04:45PM (#50295637)
I also lost my father in 2024, and have a similar link in my mind. Like Patrick, cancer did what cancer does.

My condolences.

Perhaps tangential but I wonder if their framing of “ambition” as a bad thing is a product of translation or their reality.

This is very easy to search. Here's an example: https://waterknowledge.colostate.edu/water-management-admini...

Agriculture is 86% for Colorado. All other sources combined pale in comparison.

And agriculture does not simply "make food". They are often growing feed for animals, so they're making food inputs, which will require still further water to become food for humans.

They also often practice flood irrigation, arguably the least efficient method of watering plants.

Finally, due to "use it or lose it" systems, they have to continue using their water or they won't have access to it next season, so they sometimes literally just dump it on the ground where there aren't any plants to keep their quota up so they don't have access to less water next year.

Yes we need food, but there are a lot of ways in which we can grow just as much or more food without using quite so much water.

Echoing this. People hear screen and think bad, but we show Mr. Roger’s, Frog and Toad, and other low stimulation programs which I believe (in small doses) can be beneficial as opposed to harmful.
Remarkable in what way? Sounds completely unremarkable to me.

Oh wow, someone did a dance, and then someone copied it, and then someone copied it, and then someone copied it, and then..

“Only” 1 to 3 MCU movies a year? This is an absurd amount of junk.
Based on your interpretation of the conversation, it’s clearly you who doesn’t understand what is being discussed.
I literally have no idea what you’re talking about. You’re saying we can’t splice ads out?

There are absolutely hard breaks before and after ads. Sounds like you might be talking about product placement, which to be clear, no one anywhere else in this thread is talking about.

Why would anyone need machine learning to edit a video? There are dozens or hundreds of free open source video editing programs. Only one person needs to edit the ads out.
By that point? There already is and has been for years. Many more life times worth of movies and shows than any one person could ever hope to watch.
I am fine missing all live sports events. I think many other people are as well.

Re:Starcraft: Ashfall on Monday October 19, 2026 @06:54PM (#50159129)
What does AI generated even mean, really? Because there is a pretty big difference between “make a star craft game” and a sequence of very specific small prompts to build it up. They are both AI generated, but will vary wildly in quality and implementation.
Re:How Tabasco Became the World's Hot Sauce on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @12:05PM (#50089849)
I will take just about any hot sauce over Tabasco. If a place doesn't have Cholula, they're not a good restaurant (or are a _very_ good restaurant, and don't have hot sauce at all).
This is the most boot-licking non-sense I've ever read in my life.
This if anything backs up my argument. Cruelty or kindness (when directed towards LLMs) is not expensive enough to matter.
Sorry but I just don’t buy the argument that telling the RNG that it is dumb is making me cruel.
It’s reprehensible to be mean to the random number generator?
You could make the same argument that burning compute to be polite is just as bad.
My current US city has municipal trash. My previous US city had municipal trash. It definitely “flies” here.
Re:My personal AI agent posted my bank details on company Slack on Saturday October 10, 2026 @12:03PM (#50034235)
It also seems likely that an employee who used company assets (tokens) for personal use would have been fired rather than writing a blog post about it.
Bad by what metric?
We should absolutely stop using water to grow alfalfa in the desert that we then ship to foreign countries so they can feed it to their cattle.
This phrase has been around for years, I know because it has always infuriated me.

They took a well-defined unit of time, which is relatively short, and made it mean “some unknown but very long period of time”.

So frustrating. /oldmanyellsatcloud
