most of the world has no clue what you are talking about, or they are too old to understand or they don't care. I'm not criticizing you I'm just saying they aren't even aware this is an issue
Re:Binance-hacker-1029 โ€“ $5.6B stolen from Binance on Friday October 30, 2026 @12:59PM (#50306759)

Re:StackOverflow now gets fewer than 1000 questions a month on Thursday October 29, 2026 @09:49AM (#50289016)
same - I only visited SO when I spent a lot of time looking for a solution / answer to something and I could not find it in documentaiton/man pages or on Google
yes I know people definitely get around this with hyper but I'd be scared in case they ever tried to kyc or something.
Re:Ghostty 1.4.0 on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @01:23PM (#50262553)
I know for many folks they like the fact that it is cross platform (works on mac/linux) etc and gpu acceleration which is really nice to have.

Re:How I got over 300 Tor exit nodes removed on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @01:21PM (#50169647)
agree I think tor is such a cool technology but even the thought of what is getting routed through there on my machine or even a machine I rent is enough for me to stay away from it
this is kind of an lmgtfy quesation not a new thread on HN question
Re:Websites are closing their doors to AI agents on Monday October 19, 2026 @11:32AM (#50153676)
no you are def right the agents are def capable and that is the problem, so capable we are all doing this, we are all making our own scrapers, as are big corps/small corps and it is adding up so now we are seeing managed challenges everywhere and webmasters/sysadmins going to great lengths to block any bots.

Re:Show HN: 500 clocks in one 6.3 MB HTML file by Opus 5.5 on Sunday October 18, 2026 @11:18AM (#50141836)
tell your AI they did a good job!
if you pick these calls up it proves you are a real number and will get more calls

instead, have your AI answer as "jacks Pzza" or "office depot headquarters boise ID" and they will re-classify your number.

if you want to fight for your number you have to start thinking of your phone number as part of a giant global database and convince the big data brokers you are not who you say you are

Re:Websites are closing their doors to AI agents on Sunday October 18, 2026 @11:13AM (#50141790)
my prediction: ai agents will have their day, but not on this version of the web. websites will have a separate xml/json/yaml version that agents can peruse without all the ads/js/etc
I would also take that bet, but when the pain gets great enough people do come out and vote historically anyway
dam Mapquest? if they make a project that shows me directions, not photos of food at restaurants, ads for fast food, etc ill start using them
Re:What I Self-Host on Friday October 16, 2026 @03:42PM (#50123507)
oh I never even thought about switching to postgres.
nice! maybe some tooltips over some of the paid features like cloud profile backups, im sure I know what that means but maybe not "cookie bot hours"

either way really cool

I would love to see someone do a mini thermal printer where the badge can print out custom thermal stickers

Re:My personal AI agent posted my bank details on company Slack on Saturday October 10, 2026 @11:15AM (#50033778)
its crazy I spent 30 years scrutinizing directory permissions, users, groups, iam roles...now people just use conversation to hand an AI agents access to their most sensitive data
