Can someone explain why has the police mostly betrayed the population? Aren't they the relatives of the protesters?
Didn't they do this on Gas Monkey?

Is this what they use for self driving cars?
Whatever you do, don't be like my a-hole co-founder and leave 2 weeks before launch.

Re:IndieHackers.com acquired by Stripe on Wednesday April 12, 2017 @12:28AM (#14094750)
But what's the upside? Will this website EVER net Stripe a (figurative) DIME after paying 2 salaries? I think not. Maybe it will entice a few dozen new account signups per month. Who knows.

Community outreach is a good thing (tm) but I see now way any sane/experienced business person would pay a million dollars for this.

Re:We’re dropping Google Ads on Tuesday April 11, 2017 @11:18PM (#14094459)
It already exists... in the world of porn, though.
Agreed re. contractors. When you use the Uber app, you pay Uber. Not Joe Shmoe and his nice newish car. Therefore the HST should be payable, to Uber.

In turn, drivers who earn > $30k should provide their HST number to Uber, and Uber should be billed HST in remittances.

In turn, drivers can write off HST paid on all business-related expenses.

Yay, Value Added Taxes.

Totally. Ban him or Sell it to him. Deescalation or scorched earth. Enough of this pesky middle-ground.
Re:US billionaire helped to back Brexit on Sunday February 26, 2017 @05:58AM (#13736655)
Extraterritorial corporate interests manipulating a decision arguably more important than a single election?

Please, help me explore how this is significantly different than the Russia vs US election issue on the other side of the pond.

Touche! Maybe this old adage should be updated - (s)he who gets the most airtime wins.

You could probably sell one of these into every concert theatre in the world. I'm wracking my brain and exercising my google-fu, but I can't seem to find/remember which famous musician wanted only one color of candy on their rider. Or was it everything except the green ones. Or something like that.

I'm in the process of doing this right now (we're in the 'fake news' space). Google is your friend, there are a multitude of resources out there for nonprofits.

In terms of how to get going, here are a few useful links:

First, a feasibility study: http://help4nonprofits.com/NP_START_IsItFeasible_Art.htm

Next, a board: https://www.thebalance.com/importance-of-nonprofit-first-boa...

First thing I noticed, too. You beat me to it! A PC can't possibly be considered pro without a couple of CXP connectors.

Re:NeverSSL on Tuesday January 10, 2017 @10:24PM (#13371490)
Ah, first world problems. Where I am, data connections are out of reach for the vast majority of the population (yet somehow, they all seem to have smartphones - go figger).

Everyone goes to the mall, not to shop, it would seem, but to use the free wifi and bask in the comfort of free aircon.

Captive portals are here to stay in places around the world, and like it or not, they are a widely used solution that is not going away any time soon. I for one applaud the author of this website's attempts to shine light on the problem of authenticating to this network type.

Re:Software Developers Should Have Sysadmin Experience on Monday January 09, 2017 @07:25AM (#13355812)
Not particularly controversial at all, from my POV.

I was a sysadmin with various ISPs in various countries for 15 years before I "turned to the dark side". I'd been using Ruby for a few years with Puppet and Chef, and after dealing with one too many "flaky coders", I picked it up.

I have to say, coding is far more enjoyable, though both come in handy in my day-to-day life.

It sounds like you've dealt with a few "BOFH" sysadmins. Don't worry, we're not all like that, and those that have been on both sides of the team will probably see your way.

Tell your boss I'm available (remotely), by the way ;)

Re:Stripe has raised $150M more at a $9B valuation on Saturday November 26, 2016 @01:56AM (#13042194)
While you're at it, let me add one to your list

* allow true multicurrency operation - a Stripe client in any country should be able to accept funds in any currency Stripe supports.

Case in point, as a Canadian, I can accept only USD or CAD. But I have clients in the UK, and am stuck using Paypal to accept GBP directly.

I misread it. I thought this was a poll on whether Sierra was broken. My vote

All I know is I'm getting 50% less battery time this week.

Oh, and sqllite-ruby seems to be a bit grumpy.

Re:YouTube Changes YouTube Heroes Video Stealthily on Saturday September 24, 2016 @10:25AM (#12571043)
No, not and keep the same video ID. The trick is to create a one-video playlist, and link to the playlist. Then you can update the contents of the playlist whenever you want.
OT, but I like the use of Semantic UI on that site. Nice and clean design.

Sure, I'll use it myself, but the name makes it inherently less shareable. To me, at least.

Counterpoints galore here - http://www.financialwisdomforum.org/gummy-stuff/gummy_stuff....

Warning - it can be tough reading (and not in the usual scholarly sense, either!) as the author definitely had his own "style". Also it's written from a Canadian point of view, though the concepts are universal. (ie - Americans shouldn't automatically dismiss the link.)
