Re:Desire to Move Permanently to U.S. at New Low on Friday October 16, 2026 @01:23PM (#50121417)
Other countries are cracking down which makes desire to migrate less.
Re:What I Self-Host on Thursday October 15, 2026 @06:50PM (#50111478)
Yes, especially if you running a multi-node setup. I'm still running on HashiCorp Nomad.

Exceptional results come from the things that people do when no one is looking.
Re:Stripe's Knowledge AI Platform on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @03:55PM (#49821606)
Can anyone recommend something self-hosted that does this?
Factory workers that did repetitive things that didn't require any thinking got automated away by machines. But there are still factory workers today that do things that require thinking.

Machines don't go deep on problems, humans do. A machine has no will or purpose to solve a novel problem on their own. Hope that answers your question.

Why isn't a LLM as smart as a human? Therein lies your problem.
Technical skills are very much still required to take the product into maturity. Coding a prototype is very different from building something actually polished enough to generate value.
Why did you guys migrate away from Nomad?
Re:I said no and Apple said yes on Tuesday September 22, 2026 @07:59AM (#49799850)
Most people are not like you and don’t care about this. They just want something that works.
Re:Show HN: CUA-S1 – A System One Model for Computer Use on Saturday September 19, 2026 @04:45PM (#49769972)
Are we able to use CUA to build a system similar to Grok Bot?
Re:Laya the open source version of Jev on Saturday September 19, 2026 @11:11AM (#49767204)
Can you give some examples of workloads?
What do you use then?
Can anyone recommend the perfect sweet spot for someone who wants to run their own inference?
I had a chance to try Omarchy past few days and it's just very different vs macOS. I honestly never had a problem with the windowing system ever since I built my own customization scripts (i.e. Hammerspoon). I can see the appeal for someone who wants ultimate customization though but macOS still wins overwhelmingly when it comes to polish, ecosystem, user experience, and apps (nothing comes close).
How does this compare to YC's qm?
That's because the body can become desensitized by sugar the more it gets. Poeple often turn to processed food more and more as their tastebuds become more accustomed to tastier foods while natural foods start tasting more bland. It's the same way dopamine works.
Re:Building an Advanced Agentic Harness on Wednesday August 05, 2026 @11:09AM (#49184046)
Do you have an example?
Re:Building an Advanced Agentic Harness on Wednesday August 05, 2026 @11:07AM (#49184021)
Anyone else have related reading that touches on this? I'm building my own custom harness and want to start implementing loop support, etc. But I also want to build some sort of framework so that it's dynamic (e.g. this needs to run x number of iterations, while planning needs to run y number of iterations).
Re:Odysseus – self-hosted AI workspace on Sunday May 31, 2026 @01:13PM (#48347459)
Can anyone recommend something similar but cleaner and more polished?
Aircraft carriers are part of a strike group so the other ships would be responsible for defending it.
Why even use Playwright for this? I feel like Claude just needs agent-browser and it can generate deterministic code from it.
Re:Obsidian Sync now has a headless client on Sunday March 01, 2026 @12:56AM (#47204101)
Will this ever be able to work with a self hosted server?
Re:Launch HN: Onyx (YC W24) – The open-source chat UI on Tuesday November 25, 2025 @04:25PM (#46050984)
Is this sort of like self-hosted NotebookLM?
A lot depends on long term planning but the planning better be right. In my opinion, the markets are much better than planning.
There is definitely an inconvenience to it which affects the freedom to navigate. Americans don’t like their freedoms being taken away.
Re:RubyMine is now free for non-commercial use on Tuesday September 02, 2025 @07:43PM (#45110563)
That’s not a good indicator at all. Open source requirements are very different from business application.
The culture is very different in the US. You are viewed as American after you’ve been here awhile but the same cannot be said for other places.
Ktown in LA has a few
I've been seeing these drive around LA too (the Zeekr).
Re:GCP Outage on Thursday June 12, 2025 @02:57PM (#44261664)
