"Introducing Gemini One, the sequel to Gemini 4."
I feel like I focus on the version numbers and Flash label for Gemini more than the attached cutesey codenames.
4 > 3.8 > 3.1 > 3.0
Unless you put Flash onto it, which denotes a lower cost version.
It seems like Carbon is a drop in replacement for Argon (same price). They can keep using random cutesey names as long as the version number + Flash naming scheme keeps making sense. Feels Android-y to me.
Comparing any Spielberg movie to anything else is a bit of a loaded comparison though. Baby vs hydrogen bomb levels in some cases.
Throw a gifted storyteller at any medium and they will produce something worth paying attention to. AI generated content has not had that moment yet. I'm not sure it will ever, but it's worth thinking about.
It took the medium of film ~50 years to find Hitchock and ~75 to find Spielberg.
> Google AI Ultra exclusive
> AI Ultra (and thus Genie) are not available for Workspace companies
Who is this for?
This assumes everything is named after what it is, Pokemon-style. Which can't possibly be true for the entirety of the English language...
Touché. You are technically correct... (the best kind)
I take respite that colloquially what I said is still valid.
Hmm, like allowing hosts to retain their memories...
I think fire is still involved in the creation of solar energy though... Just not man-made fire.
Humans don't operate at AI speeds. We're making the car go from 0 to 5000 mph in 1 second and the drivers are turning to goo in the seat.
The justification of private property is that we don't have a proven and workable alternative at a civilizational scale.
Even longer I'd say. Node was the new kid on the block when I was in college 2010-2011. By 2016 it was entrenched.
But if that becomes common wisdom and nobody ends up using such new projects going forward out of such fears, how will they get the momentum to meaningfully affect change on Node? This worked out with Bun and Deno but not sure about the future.
Why even spend the time making an account to post such a comment.
People are so strange.
This is the core concept behind the Black Mirror episode "Be Right Back" (201).
Like most early-season episodes, it's incredibly depressing but absolutely worth watching. And honestly, I wouldn't mind if AI researchers were forced to watch it (along with The Animatrix).
Macromedia Flash 1.0 was released the same year as the Space Jam website, I don't think it used .SWFs. In fact I don't remember .SWFs being common until 2002-2003 (but that's my biased viewpoint, since that's when I discovered Newgrounds.)
I thought his deal was "everything is a monopoly", lol.
(I subscribe to his newsletter and generally really enjoy it.)
Good point. The market may not always be rational, but it's often more so than any individual investor.
I wonder if that was just an outgrowth of NASA's "plan for failure" ethos.
But, I also wonder if that ethos was apart of early NASA before they had failures to learn from... Hmm...
Post-AI, the debate feels academic at this point.
It's physical matter all the way down.
With that said, I've been thinking that consciousness is just mystery.
There's so much about the brain we don't know. Within that mystery, humans can read in all sorts of things. So we are conscious.
Machines are not a mystery. We made them, it's just numbers. They are not conscious.
If an AI can pull a confidence trick, I'm not sure what the qualitative difference is. "Chinese Room" problem, I guess? If the physical results are all we are able to compare, how do we define artificial vs real consciousness?
Citation needed on jail time for WoW private servers.
Conventional wisdom is Google did all the groundwork with LLMs...
The creepiest part of Voight-Kampff in Blade Runner was the idea that I'd fail it (not imagining myself as a replicant, but still as a human).
My layman expectation would have been much higher. It's got no atmosphere refracting anything and it's closer to the source of energy.
I could also see some key decision-makers just being nerds that like space.
