Aeolun

I don’t know if other services couldn’t have done that. I think the important bit is that I never feel shafted when I’m using Steam. Ever since the beginning I’ve been able to click purchase, and have a game downloadable within minutes to hours (depending on size). All the extra nonsense they’ve added has never stood in the way of that core experience.
They are probably going to need all that capacity.

Idiocracy isn't a dystopia. It's a documentary.

What is it with anybody but anthropic having zero sense for how to name their models?

I think the idea is that you start out believing people will cooperate, and that the best idea will naturally surface, and then you find out humans don’t actually work like that.

Very enticing Microsoft.

I feel like the solution here is to say 'Try'?
> You must read the code before shipping it to production.

No you don't. You just need to be reasonably certain it works to specification. That was always the case, with or without LLM generated code. If anything I now have a lot more confidence in some of the code produced because the lower bound has become the LLM.

The point of war is enforcing your will through violence. You can skip the violence, but then bullies would essentially be unrestricted.
Surely, knowing what the requirements are, we can build a cheaper Tomahawk missile these days, right?

SpaceX does the whole rocket launch thing for a fraction of the cost of the space shuttle. GPS is not that complicated any more and all the processing power required fits in a chip the size of a cellphone.

But those things cost 2.5M a piece?

At least this one doesn't look horrible. I can't see myself buying it, but I don't feel like I want to gag either.
Egui mostly repaints on the GPU, so the inefficiencies doesn't really show up until you try to render 10k tree nodes in a list or something, and even then you can do virtualization.
I think it's more amazing they ever advertised with 'cold start to store' of 5.4 seconds. How is that anywhere near good?!

I mean, I kinda like having kids. Even if everything goes in the shitter economically ag least I have something in front of me that is obviously going well.

To be fair, you cannot trust the Dutch.

They're selling delegated responsibility as a service. Seriously?
Re:Redesigning Source Control at Anthropic on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @03:16AM (#50083632)
There's value to me! I've never been happier about my tools.
I’m not sure that is true. More wealth is only useful if you can do something with it. If I buy my home for 300k and buy taxes on 300k, then that’s the level my income is calibrated for. If the value of my home rises to 900k with a similar increase in taxes, my tax burden increased by 3, but I still have the same amount of money and no way to get it out other than selling the house.

If you need thst money back at some point it makes much more sense to tax the sale or purchase of the property because nobody living there is affected until that sale actually happens.

Is it actually solving anything though? It always seems to get stuck with the semi half sticking out.

Only after Anthropic rebuilds Claude in Rust.
Maybe not one that reported it, but the ‘we scan every message you sent into this for disallowed speech’ part is what gives me pause.

They shouldn’t be in a position to report it at all.

Re:September 2026: The world today, as seen by one Polish guy on Thursday October 01, 2026 @12:25AM (#49917724)
There’s no point in responding to people that have already judged and found wanting. I have better things to do with my time.

Though sometimes I still get pulled in, like now.

The question is if that has gotten better over time? Because age doesn’t really change all that much in my experience.
As in, it’s fine to marry if the child is pregnant, or the opposite?
Call me misguided, but I’m not sure adult life experience helps a lot with raising kids. It just means you grow out of touch.
I mean, most of the world has settled on 18 for this.
Yeah, I also question the distinction between a 17 year old marrying a 50 year old and an 18 year old marrying a 50 year old. Does your judgement suddenly magically get better after you turn 18?

Thanks xD now I can’t stop thinking about polish oil.
Re:GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price on Wednesday September 30, 2026 @06:16AM (#49906800)
I can’t say what will happen to you, but yes, that has been my experience. It is better to wait for your normal full limit to return, because if you use a banked reset you get only 1/5th of the tokens but you still have to wait the full week afterwards for it to reset. 20% would be fine if it didn’t also reset the date your normal reset fires.
Re:September 2026: The world today, as seen by one Polish guy on Wednesday September 30, 2026 @05:04AM (#49906252)
Germany hasn’t historically been nice about leaving Polish oil to the Polish when they decide they need it though?
