Hopefully it means waste goes down as more miners become unprofitable and shutdown.
>Developers can choose to adopt these new business terms, or stay on Apple’s existing terms. Developers must adopt the new business terms for EU apps to use the new capabilities for alternative distribution or alternative payment processing.

You don’t have to pay the fee if you stay on the existing business terms.

Or they stay on the App Store and none of those fees apply.

> Instead of simulating an entire mission from launch to docking, “the team decided they would rather run multiple tests with chunks of the mission,” Mullholland said. “Going forward, for every flight, we will do launch to docking and undocking to landing in addition to the other tests we were doing in our qualification testing.”

Given the amount of money and lives at risk, this level of process short-cutting is mind boggling.

Schools should just be allowed to have cell jammers.
My cpap has a cell chip in it. Sends my sleep data to the company, my doctor, and insurance. It’s hipaa protected since it’s a medical device so I don’t worry about it. Would not be as ok with a random tech startup collecting the same data.

Terry’s book is good, but it’s tedious and wordy. It takes a lot of pages to get anywhere interesting.

Maybe read the works of actual accomplished academics and not videos from YouTube grifters?

This comment says more about you than the work environment.
Those conversations now happen in slack DMs in my experience.
Inference and training are not the same things. AMD has basically no market share in training.
I’ve heard this referred to as the “green eggs and ham test” for written communication. [0]

Reminds me of this tweet[0]:

>Sick of people calling everything in crypto a Ponzi scheme. Some crypto projects are pump and dump schemes, while others are pyramid schemes. Others are just standard issue fraud. Others are just middlemen skimming of the top. Stop glossing over the diversity in the industry.

They also used unit sales instead of revenue. Pirating a $60 new release and buying a $5 steam game we’re both counted as 1 unit.
Apparently he was a network tech for the classified network. The real scandal here is there weren’t alarm bells ringing somewhere that a low level network tech was printing and viewing top secret documents.

The pitch for SPJ to leave MS research on Haskell for a video game company must have been pretty compelling so I’m very interested to see how this evolves.
Re:Senate Bill to Ban TikTok on Wednesday March 29, 2023 @06:38PM (#35364863)
>TikTok isn't even mentioned in the text of the act.

Because that would make it a bill of attainder which is unconstitutional.

Re:Senate Bill to Ban TikTok on Wednesday March 29, 2023 @06:36PM (#35364847)
That’s just being pedantic. The constitution explicitly bans bills of attainder so any law targeting a specific person or company will be struck down.
And then get hired one county over. So not really any accountability.
Re:REM Sleep Is Magical. Here’s What the Experts Know on Sunday February 26, 2023 @10:32AM (#34946282)
I almost wanted to start smoking again after I quit just to stop dreaming. Quit 3 years ago and the dreams are just so vivid and intense versus the dreamless sleep when I was smoking.

Probably because of all the obvious money laundering.
No experience, but this story of the “Maine hermit” who lived in a tent in central Maine for decades is still amazing to me.

Re:Amazon Smile Gets a Frown on Saturday January 21, 2023 @04:58PM (#34471026)
Amazon affiliates referral payments are based on the last referrer within 24hours of an order. Eg, you can click an affiliate link, not buy the item and then buy something unrelated 12 hours later and the affiliate will still get the commission. (As long as you didn’t click a different affiliate’s link).
David Bressoud’s 4 books on calculus/analysis are the most engaging math books I’ve ever read. He uses the history of mathematics to drive the narrative and it’s an enlightening approach. However, this means certain theorems often taught in undergrad analysis are delayed until his “graduate” book and his graduate book would not be sufficient for passing many universities analysis quals. But the context and history he gives is fantastic.
The classic, How to Solve It by Polya.

A lot of the advice seems obvious in retrospect but being systematic about a problem solving framework is enormously helpful.

Re:Amazon Closing AmazonSmile on Wednesday January 18, 2023 @09:45PM (#34436140)
The entire point of the url restriction was to save money on google search ads and boost costumers starting their search from Amazon first. The search ads savings was what went to charities.

They did an attestation which is not an audit.

I’m ok with this.
Nice jazz pun.
Forgiveness usually requires some level of admitting fault and contrition. I have not seen that from the hateful accounts Elon unbanned.
