Cheaper than some stupid generic college textbook though.
Wait he was a shill? When I hear "airman in IT" I hear "Eglin AFB shill."
Re:How Paris Is Taking Back Its Streets from Cars on Friday April 28, 2023 @03:51PM (#35746245)
Is this another walkable 15 minute cities PR puff piece? How exciting and fresh.
The contagion will spread until the munny printers catch fire from overuse.

Also the vast majority of the public, who eat meat. I would sacrifice your right to free speech before I sacrificed my ability to eat meat.

New curl won't even build on my machine, LOL.

With WWIII coming the poor people problem has been solved.
Aren't soldiers supposed to have at least some violent tendencies? Can't really fight a war with folks who aren't interested in killing other people.
Re:The Struggle to Make Lab-Grown Meat on Friday April 28, 2023 @02:05PM (#35744921)
Can a modern military about to enter WWIII susbsist on root marm? Let's find out.
Re:The Struggle to Make Lab-Grown Meat on Friday April 28, 2023 @01:56PM (#35744796)
All beef is, by default, grass fed for the vast bulk of the animal's life. Some animals like sheep can't even eat grains and will bloat, so the energy and ecological footprint is basically zero.

The problem of humiliation remains, however, even if grain finishing were somehow to be banned. And the Indian tech bros sliding in their Hindu / Jain / Sikh agendas wouldn't achieve any progress in their mission to transform the West.

Re:The Struggle to Make Lab-Grown Meat on Friday April 28, 2023 @12:58PM (#35743991)
Couldn't you say this about nearly everything? Energy green or non, non-meat foodstuffs, medicines, education, mail? Let's cut all subsidies across the board.
Re:The Struggle to Make Lab-Grown Meat on Friday April 28, 2023 @12:43PM (#35743787)
You claim meat is resource intensive but how's this compare to lab grown meat? Which is more resource intensive? Also we most certainly don't "grow most of our crops to feed meat" and who even refers to animals as "meat?"

Very nice WEF talking points but are they true?

Re:The Struggle to Make Lab-Grown Meat on Friday April 28, 2023 @12:42PM (#35743766)
You're going to have to do a LOT better if you want me onboard your ridiculous dehumanizing serf program.

What aren't they, really? That's what I'd like to know.
Re:Minidisc FAQ: MDLP (“Long-Play”) Mode Topics on Friday April 28, 2023 @11:39AM (#35742622)
While MD was real neat for the time, the first revision of the format didn't sound as good as a good quality cassette recorder with a high bias tape and Dolby B, especially with transient broad-band signals like cymbals and snare drums. Later on they fixed this to some degree but the issue was compatibility hell. A couple friends of mine had MD portables and while they were neat I was never really tempted because as a Linux user at that time, there was no way to get music onto them. I also had blown a big wad on a professional cassette Walkman.

It's the same with minimizing my carbon footprint. As soon as Al Gore and Bill Gates stop flying I'm all in.
With the stunning 1-2% year on year gains in speed, when you're not losing 10-20% of your performance for mitigations, who sees a compelling reason to upgrade their computer? Laptop, workstation, or server?
Re:The Struggle to Make Lab-Grown Meat on Friday April 28, 2023 @11:19AM (#35742303)
The energy inputs alone preclude any thought of it being ethical.
Re:Gpt4free repo given takedown notice by OpenAI on Friday April 28, 2023 @11:10AM (#35742264)
It's been taken down, how can you clone it? Anyway if anybody has links to a mirror that'd be great. Still wondering why people don't self-host.
Re:The Struggle to Make Lab-Grown Meat on Friday April 28, 2023 @11:08AM (#35742213)
Another question I've had for a while - is there any way to combine lab-grown meat, cockroach milk, and vertical farming? I think one facility could provide all three. The vertical farms' algae sludge and leftover serum / goo from the twitching, gibbering masses in the fake meat tanks could easily be used to induce bug-lactation in the cockroaches providing an extremely humiliating, dehumanizing product to all the low-grade pleb slaves out there while the tech bro millionaires laugh and laugh at all of us slaves.
Re:The Struggle to Make Lab-Grown Meat on Friday April 28, 2023 @11:02AM (#35742128)
It's also tough because nobody really wants this. I've asked around and none of the vegans, vegetarians, or meat eaters I know are even vaguely interested in this. Reactions range from "huh" to "I'll never eat fake meat." I wont eat it either, it's dehumanizing.

Re:Microsoft rewriting core Windows libraries in Rust on Thursday April 27, 2023 @01:41PM (#35731792)
MS and Amazon own and run Rust, this isn’t surprising.
It used to be smarter, I think they dumbed it down to save money or something.
Their own subject matter, snark, and I’m not going to bother checking ownership to see if the people who own them fly to Davis but I can easily assume they do.
This is good, cracking down and getting tough on China.
