you can also swim down to the top of it if you're good at holding your breath.
Electricity companies should be 100% air-gapped from any internet connection, whether or not they have outdated software.
there are photos from the surface of Venus from the Soviet Union's landings. They are online.
those laws are simple instructions made to a robot. the instructions given to AI models are complicated and numerous. It might be the case that you could bake, "and by the way, don't hurt any humans" into the instructions, but it is already way beyond the idealistic three laws, as you mention.
Re:AirPods 5 on Friday September 11, 2026 @04:11AM (#49655069)
you're mistaken. Only proper blood diamond coated connectors increase the sound quality. lab grown with the same chemical and physical properties doesn't work.
Re:AirPods 5 on Friday September 11, 2026 @03:59AM (#49654981)
i wonder if you've ever tried them. I'm concerned about audio quality and never thought to use airpods since I assumed they'd fall out when i was hiking. My gf bought me the last version of the airpods pro and they sound excellent. and they've never fallen out of my ears during normal movement like i assumed they might.
Re:The American Grilled Cheese Sandwich Essay (2024) on Friday July 31, 2026 @01:33AM (#49119360)
Grilled cheeses should be outlawed.
Utility companies should not connect their OT/ICS networks to the internet or to their business network. Trying to be "SMART" creates cyber security vulnerabilities.
Re:Does creatine make you smarter? on Thursday July 23, 2026 @12:24AM (#49016909)
if you added back the creatine along with the herring, you could become a superhero.
I'm already hiding under the bed.

You probably don't understand most clever jokes. O'Rourke's would clearly be lost on you.
I'm so depressed.

McDonald's is awesome and yummy. Why all the hate?
Re:The Only GM EV1 Ever Publicly Sold, and Where It's Going Next on Wednesday November 26, 2025 @03:12AM (#46055252)
I live somewhere with BYD vehicles everywhere. You aren't missing anything.
Re:Ticker: Don't Die of Heart Disease on Monday November 10, 2025 @01:15AM (#45872978)
You right. You don't need statins. Nobody does. But look at the statistics. You might also drop dead tomorrow. It's hard to know. If you think eating and exercising would solve heart disease, you are mis-informed. It's the number one killer. If we all died at 30, the drugs would not need to exist. I'm sure you would like to live as long as you can. Taking statins is cheap and simple for most people.
Re:Ticker: Don't Die of Heart Disease on Monday November 10, 2025 @01:12AM (#45872960)
I recommend the same. There are other interventions, but these two medications are straightforward to obtain with low or no side effects.
Re:Ticker: Don't Die of Heart Disease on Monday November 10, 2025 @01:07AM (#45872936)
You can only do things to reduce your risk. And whatever intervention would be based on overall population statistics, since it's difficult to know your own personal risk. Heart disease kills marathon runners. You can't just "fix it". Someone who has naturally high cholesterol won't magically be okay by changing their lifestyle and diet.
Re:What brain surgery taught me about the gift of consciousness on Thursday September 04, 2025 @01:57AM (#45124016)
"You have no conscious experience or memory of the moment when you go under and your consciousness is severed."

They started to lube me up for a colonoscopy before I was completely under. I 100% remember that and told them to give me a few more seconds.

Re:Keyboards from my collection (2023) on Thursday September 04, 2025 @01:49AM (#45123971)
You can collect a list of other peoples 'collections which you can pretend to be passionate about.
I tried to mail myself some personal items from Japan once. It was a pain in the ass.
Re:The End of Handwriting on Thursday August 21, 2025 @11:57PM (#44980883)
I have a corporation in Japan, and I have a set of fancy old-school stamps.
Re:The End of Handwriting on Thursday August 21, 2025 @10:05PM (#44980338)
I agree, and my handwriting also sucks. My brother could have been an architect; his handwriting is amazing without trying. Give me a keyboard and recess too.

My grandmother wrote me letters in cursive. They got more and more unreadable as she got older. I should have bought her a typewriter.

I got my arms broken to make them longer. This is not as common, but something I wanted to achieve. Now they are extra-long and look a bit funny, but I'm happy.
We should all try it. what's a few months of pain.
I lost my Amazon account and almost had a heart attack.
Re:Installing a Mini-Split AC in a Brooklyn Apartment on Monday August 11, 2025 @11:09PM (#44871938)
I have a 4,000 square foot house with two central air conditioners and a swimming pool. I don't think i've ever paid more than $350 a month.
The photos indicate that they are already pouring the foundations, so don't worry about these pesky details.
Throw it away, and don't collect free things in the future. Pay for things you want or need.
is that a real thing?
I have a CAC score of zero (no calcified plaque) and I take both a statin and ezetimibe to lower my LDL and ApoB. I disagree with your assessment that your CAC score along means that I statin wouldn't lower your risk.
