For me:

* Golden handcuffs

* Sunk cost

* Rewarding mastery

* Deep specialized knowledge with no other remuneration prospects for that knowledge.

Status epileptics can definitely be fatal. Epileptics are at serious risk of death from seizures or seizure-related injury so I would not be so dismissive of the risk.
Re:Winklevoss Twins’ Bitcoin Exchange on Thursday October 08, 2015 @11:42AM (#10353472)
Localbitcoin has sellers who accept cash-purchased gift card codes. You're going to pay above market rate.
Re:Medium Raises $57M on Monday September 28, 2015 @05:39PM (#10293409)
The only one I can think of without actually going to medium and digging through posts is Steven Levy.

But I like the curated front page/top articles. I will go there to specifically check that page out when I have a spare moment.

There's probably a price point that I would pay to have that list sent to my inbox daily.

vim + tmux
Re:Johann Hari on the War on Drugs on Monday June 15, 2015 @05:15PM (#9722188)
Chasing the Scream is an excellent book and is thoroughly footnooted and referenced to combat Hari's prior history of troubles. Highly recommended if you are frustrated with the WOD.

Re:Ask HN: What are you reading? on Thursday May 14, 2015 @11:48AM (#9545816)
Trigger Warning - Neil Gaiman's short story collection.

Trying to finish it before next week when I will drop everything to read:

Seveneves - Neal Stephenson

which comes out on Tuesday.

Sebaceous glands function in a similar manner. Holocrine secretion where you basically expel the cell entirely. Not surprising really since breast tissue is essentially modified sweat/salivary gland.

Unbelievably sad.

This is your drug war success.

Re:Ask HN: Which book are you reading these days? on Thursday April 09, 2015 @11:31AM (#9348253)
Anathem and Cryptonomicon are both must-reads by Stephenson too.

My vim cheatsheet lives in my dotfiles repo. Always gets cloned into a fresh system.

Why not asciidoc?
Re:Seriously, we need multi-column editors on Wednesday March 04, 2015 @10:53AM (#9144989)
Vim alone or vim+tmux is what you're looking for.
Re:Announcing Rust 1.0 Alpha on Friday January 09, 2015 @03:48PM (#8864416)
gofmt is a huge win for Go. Bye bye bikeshedding. I'd love to see that for Rust too.
Re:Open Sourcing Our Go Libraries (2014) on Tuesday January 06, 2015 @12:46PM (#8845743)
Even more nitpicky, it is an interface. It is where you get into problems with nil interfaces and not returning an explicit nil value for the error.
