Do people die from prescription opioids that often? I assumed that most of the deaths occur when people who are addicted lose access to legal sources and are forced to buy illegally (so risk of overdose and other complications is much higher)?
Are there public hospitals in Switzerland? Isn't the healthcare system entirely private?
> and now RISC-V, both in terms of use

I'm not sure that's quite true?

Or maybe medieval people thought that it's easier to climb/carry stuff up if the stairs go clockwise (or some other mundane reasons)? Maybe architects just designed it that way because that's just how everyone builds castle staircases? Seems much more plausible to me (or at least as plausible..)

> I was certainly able to imagine that on my first tour of a fort when I was young.

Most people visiting medieval castles probably significantly overestimate the frequency of hand to hand combat that might had taken place there (almost never as far as we know).

> credibility of old sources

Unsubstantiated conjecture by Victorian historians shouldn't really be treated as a "source" in the first place by actual historians.

> That is post-hoc rationalization.

You're asking to a disprove a purely(?) speculative claim, though.

Arguably still more 'humane' than it ever was.

Define worked.

Turning a 'violently suicidal' person into a zombie might seem like a success from the perspective of those who have to live with/take care of them/etc. Then again euthanasia should also be very effective if that's your only goal.

> She ate mcdonalds constantly but avoided the bun

If she also skipped the fries (and had salad instead) that wouldn't be the worst imaginable diet.

That not a mainstream Christian view, in fact it's very fringe view and you don't have to 'over-intellectualize' (whatever that means) to realize that.

> I suppose it’s up to you if you’d like to believe that 1) Evangelicals don’t believe what they claim to believe

or option 3: don't believe what you claim they believe (the 'extremely broadly' bit anyway). There are plenty of more sensible religious, political and other reasons which explain widespread support for Israel.

It might be the answer on Reddit where any meaningful discussion is usually impossible and the most absurd sounding claims are upvoted.

Do we also have to do it here?

Or cloning vats are invented...

It even has an (almost) identical UI to the iOS version

Perhaps, in no way does that justify a SWAT team invading your home, wrongfully arresting you and threatening you by up to 15 years in prison. Especially when the police officers know full well that the charges will be dismissed...

And anyway, as stupid as his joke was, I don't see (just like the judge) how any reasonable person could've interpreted it as anything but that. Arbitrary abuse of police power is much bigger threat to society than some (potential) idiots posting stupid jooks on Facebook.

Exactly, I find this sort of fanaticism about an instruction set (of all things) so puzzling.

Barely any comment which mentions RISC-V has anything constructive to say or any meaningful arguments. Makes me feel like I'm on reddit (or worse)...

>Once Jim Keller releases his Ascalon server RISC-V CPUs that are competitive with Zen x86 server CPUs

I'll believe it when I see real world benchmarks done by independent parties. At this point high-end RISC-V seems more like an "open-source" version of Itanium (not from the technical perspective course) to me..

Was "doge" the Japanese dog meme really related to the Italian title, though? I thought it was just an intentional misspelling of dog
Tell that to Germany and a bunch of other countries in Europe (then again having to pay to use a toilet still sounds a bit better than having no toilet to use at all..)

Not having to reverse engineer drivers for pretty much every single component would probably require a fraction of the effort though. And it's not like Apple would really need to actually maintain their own distro, releasing the drivers (which they are more than capabable of doing) would be perfectly sufficient.

I'm still betting on Intel bringing back Itanium.

Cause why not.. having more architectures (for no apparent reasons) sounds cool.

Or occasionally by RISC-V "enthusiasts" who claim that none of it matters since ARM is dead and everybody is going to switch to RISC-V in the very near (but undetermined) future..

To be fair that's also the case in New York, California and some other states (and minimum wage in these states is higher than in pretty much any European country).

Well, the Nazis were using the same arguments when they were publicly hanging children and other people for what they said...
Malta has/had(?) its own issues including a thoroughly corrupt government. It's much more likely that US or any other external force had very little to do with this...
As flawed as US is.. that's still one of the most idiotic statements one could make (in general).
It's interesting that options for Patricians were so severely restricted. After Questorship 2 out 4 Aedile spots were reserved for Plebians and of course they were also barred from being elected as Peoples's Tribunes (10 other spots).

Seems like a form of ancient "affirmative action". I guess it's more likely that were able to just skip a step and jump straight to Praetor and the weren't that many Patricians left by the late republic. Then again it's interesting that these laws were instituted in the first place (IIRC one the Consuls had to be a Plebian as well).

Car nowadays are significantly more reliable than back in the 80s so arguable a 10 year old car back in 1989 is the equivalent of a 15+ year one now. But yeah it's still quite a bit more expensive, $2,000 is equivalent to about $5,000 now.

Well, they were responding to a claim that: "food you get in Whole Foods is at best similar to what you find in a petrol station in Europe"

which is quite absurd. I'm yet to find such gas station in any European country and I've been to at least half of them. Also Whole Foods seems to be quite a bit average even when compared to European supermarkets in most countries.

Saying that the rebranding is an absurd idea seems like a very objective take.

Destroying a 15+ year old globally know brand with 8 year old's idea of a logo and company name is just immensely funny if not anything else...
